Confession and Forgiveness
Prayer is our speaking with God who loves us. Prayer is speaking with our Father, the
creator of all we have and all we are. We pray…
Our Father, we come to know your love.
Prayer is experiencing God’s presence, His love, His forgiveness, His total acceptance
of who we are.
Our Father, we come to know your forgiveness.
Resurrection
Lutheran Church And now we stand before God, and we come to the throne of His grace, humble, with a
servant’s attitude, as we bow our heads in prayer....
We thank you, God, for being our Father and sending Your Son, Jesus, to save
us from our sins. We confess that we don’t want to continue sinning, but in our
sinful human nature, we look for other leaders who are not gracious. We put
faith in ourselves and things of the world instead of You. We pray that You
would forgive us and by Your Spirit’s power, give us the courage, the
determination, the desire, to always look to you, always speak to you. We pray
this in Jesus’ most precious name. Amen.
Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s
love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Glory to God. Amen.

WORD
(All readings from the Common English Bible)
Exodus 21: 11-14
First Reading:
11 But Moses pleaded with the Lord his God,
“Lord, why does your fury burn against your own
people, whom you brought out of the land of
Egypt with great power and amazing force?
12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘He had an
evil plan to take the people out and kill them in
the mountains and so wipe them off the earth’?
Calm down your fierce anger. Change your mind
about doing terrible things to your own people.
Psalm
Read Responsively
Hear my words, Lord!
Consider my groans!
2 Pay attention to the sound of my cries, my
king and my God,
because I am praying to you!
3 Lord, in the morning you hear my voice.
In the morning I lay it all out before you.
Then I wait expectantly.
7 But me? I will enter your house
4 Bible p. 69
13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your
servants, whom you yourself promised, ‘I’ll make
your descendants as many as the stars in the sky.
And I’ve promised to give your descendants this
whole land to possess for all time.’” 14 Then the
Lord changed his mind about the terrible things
he said he would do to his people.
Psalm 5:1-3, 7-8
because of your abundant, faithful love;
I will bow down at your holy temple,
honoring you.
8 Lord, because of many enemies,
please lead me in your righteousness.
Make your way clear,
right in front of me.
Second Reading:
Ephesians 3: 7-13
7 I became a servant of the gospel because of
the grace that God showed me through the
exercise of his power.
8 God gave his grace to me, the least of all
God’s people, to preach the good news about
the immeasurable riches of Christ to the Gentiles. 9 God sent me to reveal the secret plan
[a] that had been hidden since the beginning
of time by God, who created everything.
10 God’s purpose is now to show the rulers
and powers in the heavens the many different
Bible p. 950
varieties of his wisdom through the church.
11 This was consistent with the plan he had
from the beginning of time that he accomplished through Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In
Christ we have bold and confident access to
God through faith in him.[b] 13 So then, I ask
you not to become discouraged by what I’m
suffering for you, which is your glory.
Gospel Acclamation (ALL sing)
Gospel Reading:
John 17: 20-26
20 “I’m not praying only for them but also for
those who believe in me because of their word.
21 I pray they will be one, Father, just as you
are in me and I am in you. I pray that they also
will be in us, so that the world will believe that
you sent me. 22 I’ve given them the glory that
you gave me so that they can be one just as we
are one. 23 I’m in them and you are in me so
that they will be made perfectly one. Then the
world will know that you sent me and that you
have loved them just as you loved me.

glory, which you gave me because you loved
me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, even the world didn’t
know you, but I’ve known you, and these believers know that you sent me. 26 I’ve made
your name known to them and will continue to
make it known so that your love for me will be
in them, and I myself will be in them.”

I Am Trusting You, Lord Jesus Apostles’ Creed We confess our faith with the words of the Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

O Christ, the Healer, We Have Come
Jeffrey Honoré
Jim Loeffler
O Christ, the healer, we have come to pray for health, to plead for friends.
How can we fail to be restored when reached by love that never ends?
From every ailment flesh endures our bodies clamor to be freed;
yet in our hearts we would confess that wholeness is our deepest need.
In conflicts that destroy our health we recognize the world’s disease;
our common life declares our ills. Is there no cure, O Christ, for these?
Grant that we all, made one in faith, in your community may find
the wholeness that, enriching us, shall reach the whole of humankind.
SETTING THE TABLE
Offertory Prayer
Let us pray. Merciful God,
as grains of wheat scattered upon the hills were gathered together to become one bread, so let
your church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into your kingdom, for yours is
the glory through Jesus Christ, now and forever. Amen.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,

Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and forever. Amen
