What are the benefits of keeping
on top of lameness?
• Increased profitability - fewer
lame cows will improve more milk
production, body condition and
flow on to improved reproduction.
• Healthier, happier cows lameness is a painful stressful
condition for your cows.
The Herd+Hoof package includes:
a) Several on-farm visits
(as detailed below)
• Initial farm visit by a Herd+Plus,
Healthy-Hoof accredited
veterinarian. Using the gap
calculator we will highlight
potential gains of improved
lameness management and a
review of lameness records
• Herd diagnosis visit/s (maybe split
into 3 short visits) – races/tracks,
cowshed design and cow flow
at milking time and lameness
scoring. If required a follow up herd
lameness score.
• We track and report on hoof
condition in your herd and help
find solutions for lameness.
• Providing on-farm staff training
to help staff to manage lameness
more efficiently – prevention
training on one visit and treatment
training on a separate visit.
• Save time - caring for lame cows
is a time consuming process. Free
yourself up to spend the extra time
on other aspect of the farm or
something you enjoy!
• A 6 monthly review visit of the
action plan to check which actions
were followed and which worked
well on your farm, plus a revision of
the action plan as required.
• We will work together with
you - follow a ‘plan, do, review’
process over the season. Use our
recommended action plans and follow
agreed farm protocols to managing
lameness to achieve your goals. We
provide staff training to ensure they
have the necessary knowledge and
skills to implement the plan.
b) Reports and action plans
• We will give you a cost calculation
pinpointing the gaps and potential
gains to be made by better
lameness management utilising
specialised data analysis.

• You will receive a detailed report
outlining an action plan for your
farm and herd so all staff are
working towards the same goal.
• We will work with you to prioritise
the actions based on biggest impact
and easiest to do.
• We will provide a clear treatment
plan for treating lameness in your
herd, and review it as required.
• We will provide a prevention plan
for lameness in your herd, reviewed
6 monthly.
• A brief summary of what is
assessed at the race/track visit and
cowshed/cowflow visit
