2nd Call for Papers

Final Call for Papers
Nobel Prize Session and Reception
on Monday, November 9
The 6th International Symposium
on Growth of III-Nitrides
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2014 was awarded jointly
to Prof. Isamu Akasaki (International Advisory
Committee Honorary Chair of ISGN-6), Prof. Hiroshi
Amano (Organizing Committee Chair of ISGN-6) and
Prof. Shuji Nakamura "for the invention of efficient blue
light-emitting diodes which has enabled bright and
energy-saving white light sources".
Scope of the Symposium
The 6th International Symposium on Growth of IIINitrides (ISGN-6) will be held on November 8-13, 2015,
in Hamamatsu, Japan. This symposium follows the 1st
symposium held in Linköping, Sweden; the 2nd in Izu,
Japan; the 3rd in Montpellier, France; the 4th in St.
Petersburg, Russia; and the 5th in Atlanta, USA.
This symposium is devoted to the exposition of recent
progress and outlining future directions in the field of
bulk substrates and the thin-film growth of III-nitrides,
as well as the growth and fabrication of nanostructures.
The aim of ISGN-6 is to cover the development of all
relevant growth techniques for III-nitrides.

Hamamatsu city, located almost halfway between
Tokyo and Osaka, is a “city of industry”, home to various
world-renowned brands of transportation vehicles,
musical instruments, optics, electronics, and so forth. It
is also near to Nagoya, the birthplace of the blue LED. In
addition, Hamamatsu abounds in unique historic sites,
cultural treasures, and areas of beauty. In November,
brightly colored autumn leaves adorn the Hokuen
(northern) area of Hamamatsu.
Act City Hamamatsu, the venue for the symposium, is
a city landmark located in front of JR Hamamatsu station.
It is accessible from Chubu Centrair International
Airport (NGO), Tokyo International Airport (HND),
Narita International Airport (NRT), and Kansai
International Airport (KIX).

Social Activities
1. Welcome Reception
Sunday evening 6:00 p.m., November 8
A welcome reception will be held on the 45th floor of
the Okura Act City Hotel, which has a beautiful night
view of the city of Hamamatsu. All participants and
accompanying persons are invited, free of charge, to
attend.
2. Nobel Prize Reception
Monday evening, November 9
Following the Nobel Prize session, this symposium
will hold a Nobel Prize reception in the Okura Act City
Hotel. Pre-booking will be necessary for this
commemorative reception.
3. Excursion
Friday, November 13
The symposium will organize a tour to Kunozan
Toshogu Shrine. Pre-booking will also be necessary to
attend the tour.
Kunozan Toshogu Shrine is the primary great shrine
among the Toshogu shrines around the country, which
enshrine Shogun (General) Ieyasu Tokugawa. The
“Gongen-style” buildings are located at the top of Mt.
Kuno, and have beautiful carvings and paintings. The
shrine is said to be the inspiration for the Toshogu Shrine
at Nikko, and most of the structures are designated
important national assets. A cable car will take you to the
top of Mt. Kuno from Nihondaira. On the way, you can
enjoy a spectacular view of the Byobudani cliff in the
direction of the Pacific Ocean.
After visiting Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, we will stop
at S-Pulse Dream Plaza for lunch, where you can enjoy
shopping for souvenirs. Beautiful views of Mt. Fuji can
be seen from Nihondaira and S-Pulse Dream Plaza on a
clear day.
4. Banquet
Thursday evening, November 12
The symposium banquet will be held in the Fuyo room
on the 4th floor of Hotel Crown Palais, which is located
across the street from Act City. Pre-booking will also be
necessary for the banquet.
You will find further information on the symposium
website: http://isgn6.jp
