As you know, we have 2 Novenas each year. The Novena of Grace in the Spring and the
Novena of the Immaculate Conception in December. I intend to continue these two Novenas, however, attendance at the 7 PM Evening Devotions has fallen off considerably. I
would like to propose the following options for the Novena of Grace and Immaculate
Conception.
_________
1. Novena Mass & prayers at 8:30 AM Mass only.
_________
2. Novena prayers at 8:30 AM Mass as well as after the 6:30 AM Mass.
_________
3. Novena Mass & prayers at 8:30 AM Mass and 7 PM Mass and I will
attend the 7 PM Mass.

4th Sunday In Ordinary Time
(Lec.71)
1) Deuteronomy 18:15-20
2) 1 Corinthians 7:32-35
3) Mark 1:21-28
FOCUS: All of us are called to serve
the Lord and to serve one another.
Not all people are called to be a Moses
or a Saint Paul, but each of us can
speak out against injustices in our society. We can live the teachings of Jesus in our families and in the workplace. We can be the messenger of
God’s love and forgiveness to someone whom no one else can reach.
Such service can bring us great joy.

prior to the Baptism.

Moses reassures the people that God
will one day raise up a prophet like
him among them. Saint Paul teaches
that some people are called to devote
their lives to service to the Lord. In
the Gospel, Saint Mark tells us that
Jesus taught in the synagogue and expelled unclean spirits. The people
were astonished and amazed by the
authority of his words.

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES
“As you can imagine, when the World Meeting of Families convenes in September here in
Philadelphia, there will be a tremendous media presence. Reporters and journalists from
all over the country will be seeking out all segments of the faithful to interview on a variety
of subjects, such as, reaction to the Pope’s visit, what they hope to learn from the event,
abortion, traditional marriage, etc. The Archdiocese is in need of those who would be willing to volunteer as spokespersons for our faith
in dealing with these topics. In order to address this issue, the Archdiocese will be conducting training sessions in February and
March for volunteers on interview techniques
and how to respond intelligently to questions,
therefore projecting the teachings and viewpoints of the Catholic Church. If you feel you
would like to represent Saint Monica’s parish
in this endeavor, please give your name to Father Kelley as soon as possible.”
WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES
HOLY HOUR
In connection with the World Meeting of
Families, we will have a Holy Hour on the
First Monday of every month in St. Monica’s
Lower Church. The Blessed Sacrament will
be exposed all day on that Monday as usual,
with the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 PM,
however, the exposition will extend until 6:00,
at which time the Holy Hour will begin. It will
consist of special prayers, the recitation of the
Rosary with the specific World Meeting intentions. A homily and conclude with Benediction. A Holy Hour for the school children will
take place every Monday from 9—10 PM.
Please mark your calendars and join us in this
special liturgy each month.
Please….Please….Please….
Please do not tape, staple or pin your
collection envelopes. Also, please
enter the amount to ensure proper credit.
Thank you for your cooperation
and may God continue to bless
your generosity.
Prayer for the World
Meeting of Families
Please pray this prayer before all parish Masses
and before parish meetings and events. This
prayer is not prayed during Mass.
God and Father of us all,
In Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
You have made us your sons and
daughters in the family of the Church.
May your grace and love
Help our families
In every part of the world
Be united to one another
In fidelity to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family,
With the aid of your Holy Spirit,
Guide all families, especially those most
troubled,
To be homes of communion and prayer
And to always seek your truth and live in your
love.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
Go and Teach All Nations
At the time of His Ascension, Jesus gave the
command “To Go and Teach All Nations”. It is the
duty & responsibility of all Catholics to join in this
command. At St. Monica Parish we provide a
Christ-centered, academically sound education to
well over 520 students from Early Learning to
Grade 8. We encourage all to use the blue weekly
envelope which helps to support our children.
Many adults enjoyed the benefit of a Catholic
Education tuition free. By your use of the blue
envelope you will insure a Catholic Education to
future generations.
