Q & A Session
AEFLA Mini Training January 2015
20
Q & A Session
TOM TORLAKSON
State Superintendent
of Public Instruction
Question: Some ESL learners are not looking
for a job. They do not plan to transition to the
High School Diploma or a post-secondary
program because they have a HS Diploma or
degree from their native country.
-Will they qualify for the Enter Employment or
Enter Post Secondary cohorts?
-If they qualify but don’t answer the survey with
positive outcome, how will that affect payment
points?
AEFLA Mini Training January 2015
21
Q & A Session (cont.)
TOM TORLAKSON
State Superintendent
of Public Instruction
Answer:
Marking Not Seeking Employment will preclude a student
from the Enter Employment cohort.
A student with a HS/HSE diploma or degree automatically
qualifies for Enter Post-Secondary cohort, even if the
education was obtained inside or outside the US.
If a student is selected to be surveyed but hasn’t achieved
the outcome, no payment point will be awarded.
