It’s Almost Rummage Time!
The first rummage sale of 2015 is coming Friday, Feb. 6 (9 a.m.-3 p.m.)
and Saturday, Feb. 7, (9 a.m.-12 noon) in Tro&er Hall.
Please plan to donate your unused, extra, unwanted or those odd unusual gi+s you received for Christmas. We’ll find a good home for them and earn some
money for missions.
Also if you can assist with unpacking and displaying
treasures, your help would be greatly appreciated. Help is needed to set up
on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 9 a.m.-12 noon and Thursday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.,
and volunteers are needed on the sale days. You can choose the 4me. Bring
rummage dona4ons to Tro&er Hall star4ng on February 1, and please no
electronics or televisions.
To volunteer or for further informa4on please call the church office
at 643-8621.
Scout Sunday February 8
Our Boy Scout Troop 102 and Cub Pack 3102 invite scouts, cubs, or
scouters from other units to join us in celebra4on of Scout
Sunday on February 8th at the 9 a.m. service.
Troop 102 has begun its 94th year, and FUMC has welcomed back Pack 3102. The na4onal United Methodist Church
also supports Girl Scouts, 4-H, Campfire, and Big Brothers and
Sisters, and any individuals involved with these organiza4ons
are also invited to the February 8th celebra4on.
Troop 102 appreciates FUMC’s support and looks forward
to the troop’s 2021 centennial year and beyond.

Important Changes for You to Know About
Financial Giving is up and we are grateful for the con4nuing stewardship of our members. At the same 4me, monetary adjustments have had to
be made to bring the 2015 budget into balance. These adjustments impact
our staff, their salaries and schedules. Therefore, there is informa4on you
need to help make things run smoothly for all of us.
The changes are a work in progress. This is a plan we are trying out
from now un4l the end of February. If it works, we will con4nue the
pa&ern. If it doesn’t, we will make addi4onal changes un4l things are running smoothly.
With regard to our secretarial and custodial coverage, this is what you
need to know:
The office will now be open Tuesday through Friday and will be closed
on Mondays. When there is a Monday holiday, the office will also be closed
on Friday in order that our secretary is afforded the holiday 4me due.
Our custodian will work fewer days and will NOT be on the premises on
Wednesday, nor on his previous regular days off Saturday/Sunday.
What do we, the church members, need to do to make this work?
HELPING THE OFFICE TO RUN SMOOTHLY
With regard to the OFFICE running smoothly we ask you to:
Submit ar4cles for GOOD NEWS and SUNDAY INSERTS earlier than
you do now with at LEAST a week’s lead-4me prior to deadlines. We
may go to a monthly newsle&er, so you will need to be thinking
farther ahead.
Allow greater lead 4me for all your business with the front office.
CARE FOR OUR BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
With regard to buildings and grounds we ask you be extra diligent in:
Locking up when you leave.
Turning off lights. This is a big issue currently and Daren will not
always be here to do what members do not do as they leave.
Leaving areas of usage as 4dy as you found them.
We have two key full-4me employees with fewer hours to do the same
work as previously, and we all must pitch in to help things run smoothly.
Remember, this is a work in progress. We will begin this pa&ern immediately, evaluate and make necessary changes as we go. We have stellar
employees on our staff. We chose to navigate these changes in such a way

Happy Ventures Preschool Update
As chairperson of the Happy
Ventures Advisory Council, I wanted to give you an end-of-the-year
preschool update.
The December 18 Christmas
program performed in the sanctuary was a show that Melissa Ledesma (the preschool director) and
her teachers should take on the
road. It can only be described as
“priceless”!! The children were
great and brought much joy to the
hearts of everyone present.
During the program I shared
informa4on about the 2015 United
Methodist Imagine No Malaria
campaign, passing out brochures
and dona4on envelopes. I asked
them to partner with the church in
this campaign since we all desire to
protect the lives of children.
I invited the parents to our
Christmas Eve services and weekly
Sunday morning worship services.
Did you know that if you are a
member of FUMC your family can
have a 10% discount on tui4on to
the preschool?
Melissa was also recognized for
all of her hard work and presented
with flowers and a gi+ card.
We are fortunate to have Happy Ventures Preschool as part of
the life of this church and especially blessed to have Melissa and her
teachers who make it all happen
day a+er day. Thank you.
