-REGULATIONS APPLYING TO ALL TRIALS
Official Premium List
1.
Dogs must be kept under control at all times. Only dogs entered in these trials will be permitted in
the Trial Buildings. Precincts of the trials include the entire area within the Concession Building.

Only those dogs registered individually with the Canadian Kennel Club, or are eligible for
registration with the CKC, may enter. The Listing Fee for a dog not individually registered with the
CKC is $9.50. A dog may not enter the Open or Utility class unless it is registered with the CKC.
The entry form must be complete in every respect. Exhibitors must abide by any errors made in
entering their dogs. Exhibitors should note that the CKC does not confer a title on any dog until it is
registered individually in the Club's records.

Hamilton Dog Obedience Club will use care and diligence for the welfare of all dogs and exhibitors,
but will not be responsible for, nor assume any liability in the event of an accident or other mishap,
however caused, to either dog or exhibitor. A dog shall not be touched without permission of the
owner or agent.

Limited Entry: Entry in each trial will be limited to the capacity of the judge to perform 7 hours of judging
at the rate of: OBEDIENCE: 9 Pre-Novice dogs per hour, 8 Novice dogs per hour, 8 Novice Intermediate
dogs per hour, 7 Open dogs per hour and 6 Utility dogs per hour which will be considered a reasonable
average. RALLY will be judged at the rate of 15 dogs per hour, maximum. Once a judge has reached
their maximum capacity the entries shall be closed but a reserve list will be created. Handlers will be
notified of their position on the reserve list and any entries pulled after closing date due to a bitch coming
in season their spot may be filled by a competitor on the reserve list up to and including the day of the
trial.
Moving Up
A dog that is registered in the records of the CKC or has a PEN, an ERN or a MCN and has fulfilled the
requirements for a title in accordance with the rules may be moved to the next level of competition. The
transfer must be submitted to the trial secretary on the appropriate move-up form by the owner or
handler 15 minutes before the opening of each trial, schedule permitting.
To comply with CKC regulations, no entries may be accepted, altered, cancelled or substituted after the
official closing date and time for entries except for as provided in the CKC Rules.

Non-member Participation Fee - Canadian residents only:
The CKC has instituted a Non-Member Participation fee for all Canadian residents who participate in a
CKC event but are not CKC members. The non-member participation fee is paid in any year a title is
earned and covers all titles and dogs owned by that individual. In order for the title to be awarded, the
non-member will have a choice to either become a CKC member or pay the non-member participation
fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will result in the title being withheld and the dog
cannot be moved up to the next level. A non-member who is a resident of Canada is subject to the fee.
Dogs co-owned with a CKC member are exempt, as are CKC members.

Section 20.7: It shall be the duty and obligation of the trial-giving club to see that a judge, club official,
ring steward, volunteer, or competitor at an Obedience Trial held under these regulations, is not subject
to indignities of any kind. The Obedience Trial Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any
infringement of this regulation, and the Discipline Committee shall have the authority to take such action
as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred

RALLY OBEDIENCE INFORMATION
Eligibility to Compete
To be eligible to compete in these trials, the dog must be 6 months of age and registered or be eligible
for registration with the CKC, have an ERN, PEN, a CKC Miscellaneous Certificate number or a CCN
number if the dog is a mixed or an unrecognized breed. A dog may be spayed, neutered or debarked.
Rally Novice A – Dogs competing in this class may not have won a CKC Rally Novice (R. N.) title or any
CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has previously exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX
(Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructs dog training classes shall be eligible to enter this class. The
handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or a member of their immediate families. A
person may enter more than one dog in this class.”
Rally Novice B – any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced class
has been earned. The owner or any person may handle dogs in this class. All exercises are judged on
leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this
class.
Rally Intermediate - The Rally Intermediate Class is an elective class and earning the title is
not a requirement to enter Rally Advanced Classes. This class shall be for dogs that have earned the
R.N. title. A dog completing the R.I. or any other obedience or rally titles may continue to compete
in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs
in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.
Rally Advanced A – This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (R. N.) title but have
not won the Rally Advanced (R. A.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has
previously exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructs dog training
classes shall be eligible to enter this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, coowner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.
Rally Advanced B – This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (RN) title. Upon
completing the Rally Advanced (RA) title, a dog may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The
owner or any person may handle dogs in this class. All exercises are judged off leash and dogs must
enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.
Rally Excellent A – This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (R. A.) title, but have
not won the Rally Excellent (R. E.) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. No handler who has
previously exhibited a dog through its CKC CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title or instructs dog training
classes shall be eligible to enter this class. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, coowner, or a member of their immediate families. A person may enter more than one dog in this class.
Rally Excellent B – This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (RA) title. A dog may
compete in this class indefinitely. Any person is allowed to handle a dog in this class. All exercises are
judged off leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one
dog in this class.
Rally Advanced Excellent – Upon completion of the Rally Excellent title, qualifying scores may be
accumulated from Rally Advanced B and Rally Excellent B to earn the Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE)
title.
To receive the RAE title, a dog must qualify ten (10) times in both Rally Advanced and Rally Excellent at
the same trial. The title will appear at the end of the dog’s name and a numeric designation will indicate
the number of times the dog has met the requirements, i.e. RAE2, RAE3, etc.

Thanks to the generosity of Club VI Ontario a rosette & $25 will be awarded to the highest qualifying
score obtained by a dog from the Non-Sporting Group in either Obedience Trial in addition to the prizes
already offered by HDOC

NSF Cheques: Tendering of a dishonoured cheque for entry fees shall be considered non-payment of
entry fees, and is an offence punishable by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards (6.3.3 of the
Obedience Trial Rules & Regulations). All fees include H.S.T. and must be paid in Canadian Funds. USA
Exhibitors we require money orders in Canadian Funds.
Bitches in Season: Bitches in season are not permitted to compete. Refunds for bitches in season will be
given provided the exhibitor supplies a veterinary certificate stating that the bitch is in season after the
closing date of the trials. This certificate must be presented to the Trial Secretary prior to the
commencement of judging for the day.

Obedience Class Eligibility In all cases where you are unsure of eligibility please review the actual
CKC Obedience Trial Rules & Regulations. The following is included for your convenience only, and is
not the full wording of the eligibility definitions:
Pre-Novice (section 9.1.6 in the CKC Rules) is for a dog which has not earned a CD
Novice A (section 10.1 in the CKC Rules) is for a dog which has not earned a CD, and the handler must
be the owner, co-owner or a member of the immediate family. No person who has trained or exhibited a
dog that has earned a CDX shall be allowed to handle a dog in this class.
Novice B (section 10.2 in the CKC Rules) is for a dog which has not earned a CD, the handler may be
the owner or any other person.
Novice C (section 10.3 in the CKC Rules) is for a dog that has earned the title CD, CDX, UD or any
OTCh title prior to the closing date of the trial in which it is to be entered. Scores earned in Novice C are
not eligible for High In Trial and do not qualify a dog for any title. The handler may be the owner or any
other person.
Novice Intermediate (section 11.1 in the CKC Rules) is for a dog which has earned a CD, CDX, UD or
any OTCh. Scores in this class are not eligible for High In Trial
Open A (section 12.1 in the CKC Rules) is for any dog which has earned a CD but has not earned a
CDX. The handler must be the owner or a member of their immediate family, and no person who has
trained or exhibited a dog which has earned a UD may handle a dog in Open A
Open B (section 12.2.2 in the CKC Rules) dogs which have a CDX or UD must enter the Open B class,
and handlers may be the owner or any other person
Utility A (section 13.1 in the CKC Rules) is for a dog which has a CDX but has not earned a UD. The
handler must not have trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a M.O.T.Ch and must be the owner or
a member of the immediate family
Utility B (section 13.2 in the CKC Rules) is for a dog which has a CDX or UD and the handler may be
the owner or any other person.
Rally Obedience Classes Offered
The following official Rally classes will be offered in all trials:
Rally Novice A, Rally Novice B, Rally Intermediate, Rally Advanced A,
Rally Advanced B, Rally Excellent A, Rally Excellent B
Exhibitors wishing to enter Rally Intermediate will have to manually enter the class on the entry
form supplied in this premium list. As of the time the Premium list was published, the changes to the
Official CKC Entry form had not yet been made. Thank you for your co-operation & we apologize for any
inconvenience this may present.
Hamilton Dog Obedience Club’s 39th Licensed Rally Obedience Trial will start at 9 AM on Sunday
February 8, 2015; their 40th Licensed Rally Obedience Trial will follow. A lunch break will take place at
the judge’s discretion.
Rally Obedience Information
The precincts of the trials and all rules and regulations governing the trials, will be the same as for the
Obedience Trials. The Obedience Chairperson shall have full control of both trials.

Bitches in season
Bitches in season are not permitted to compete under C.K.C. Rules. We will refund all entry and listing
fees if a bitch comes into season after closing date, upon presentation of a veterinarian’s certificate,
certifying the bitch was in season within the 10-day period preceding the trials. This certificate must be
delivered to or reach the Trial Secretary before the trial commences.
Important Notice to Rally Obedience Exhibitors
There is no limitation on the number of trials at which a dog may be entered as a ‘listed dog’, except that
a dog which has obtained three qualifying scores at obedience trials held under C.K.C. rules, may not
continue to compete at licensed obedience trials held under the Club’s rules until the dog is registered
individually with the C.K.C. Foreign born and owned dogs, please refer to Event Registration Number
(ERN) information listed elsewhere.
Rally Obedience Trial Rules and Regulations
The Exhibitor is responsible for knowing and complying with the Rally Obedience Rules and Regulations
of the Canadian Kennel Club.
Chapter 17 - Section 17.7 of the Rally Obedience Rules and Regulations states: It shall be the duty and
obligation of the trial-giving club to see that a judge, club official, ring steward, volunteer or competitor at
a Rally Obedience Trial held under these regulations, is not subject to indignities of any kind. The Trial

Rally Ring Dimensions – In accordance with the new CKC Rally Regulations effective January 1st,
2015, the size of the rally ring shall be between 2,000 & 3,000 square ft. with a minimum width of 30 ft.
