Letter from Parish Council Chairman:
February 2015
Dear St. Elijah Parishioners,
The 2015 Parish council has had it’s first meeting for the year and the slate of officers elected for 2015 are:
Chairman: Jeff Massad
Vice Chair: Trey Kouri
Treasurer: Denise Mettry
Secretary: Dr. Jeff Shadid
Asst. Treas: Dr. Edward Harroz
The remaining Parish Council members are:
Nick Farha, Tina Harroz, Danny Shadid, Jim Fox, Sam Homsey, Jim Farha, Malek Massad, Dr. Monique Naifeh, Dr. David Simon, Jeff Wyrick.
We ask for your prayers and guidance. Please feel free to contact any Parish Council member with your
thoughts, observations, and concerns.
Please also join me in thanking our exiting Parish Council Members of Craig Abraham, Kory Warr, and Harvey Homsey for their hard work. They have served two terms most graciously and were excellent leaders
of the team!
At the board meeting in January,
We welcomed three new Parish Council members - Dr. Monique Naifeh, Jeff Wyrick, and Malek Massad.
Dr. David Simon and Jim Farha returned for a second term. This slate of five begin their three-year term.
The Heating and Air retrofitting will begin soon under the leadership of Craig Abraham, Kory Warr, and
their committee. There will be gradual changes in the sanctuary and we pray that the process will come
without too much interruption to our Liturgy and our private meditation. There will be areas where noticeable work is being done and areas where we will not be able to enter. The ongoing goal is to keep
everyone in the sanctuary during the lengthy but necessary process. So far, the bids have come in near
the estimates.
Please look for further information soon on the Rose Hill monument, Sunday of Orthodoxy March 1, the
Lenten Retreat, VBS the first week in June, and new Senior Day Out activities.
The Stewardship Ministry is gearing up for a new year. Forms are in the mail to you with the 2015 calendar.
One of the goals this year is to educate and refocus our parish in the blessings associated with joyful giving. Please consider your past giving and where you are today compared to five or ten years ago and beyond. Will or do your love offerings to St. Elijah follow your personal financial growth during that period?
Financially, as you are aware, 2014 was a very blessed year with a surplus, as reported in our annual meeting. The treasury has begun a new era with professional, outside accounting to keep the duties of the
treasurer more in line with most non-profit organizations. While Denise and the staff will be the ones to

approve each financial item, the day-to-day job of Treasury is transitioning into more of a job of overseer.
May God bless St. Elijah!
Yours in Christ,
Jeff Massad
Parish Council Chairman
