Patriot League Announces Football Academic Honor Roll
211 student-athletes receive Honor Roll recognition
Center Valley, Pa. – Patriot League football teams combined to place more than 200 student-athletes on
the Academic Honor Roll for the first time as the seven schools totaled 211 selections on the list
announced on Monday.
Georgetown led all schools with 44 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll, while Fordham (35),
Bucknell (34), Holy Cross (31) and Lafayette (30) all had 30 or more honorees. The 211 overall selections
top the previous high of 199 set in 2010.
All 14 members of the Football Academic All-Patriot League Team made the Academic Honor Roll,
including Fordham graduate student Brett Biestek, the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The
list also included 18 All-Patriot League selections, including 11 who made the first team. Fordham senior
Mike Nebrich and freshman Chase Edmonds both made the Academic Honor Roll after earning individual
awards in the fall.
Student-athletes who achieved a 4.00 grade-point average in the fall semester included Bucknell seniors
Jake Hartman (Education & Psychology), Trey Lauletta (Managing for Sustainability) and Derek Maurer
(Managing for Sustainability), Holy Cross junior Coan Calabrese (Economics) and sophomore Jake
Wieczorek (Economics), Colgate junior Ty Edmond (Neuroscience), Fordham junior Steven Samela
(Business Administration) and Lehigh sophomore Micah Tennant (Mechanical Engineering).
To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in
the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s seven fall championship sports.
“Today’s Scholar-Athletes, Tomorrow’s Leaders” – The Patriot League continually demonstrates that
student-athletes can excel at both academics and athletics without sacrificing its high standards. The
Patriot League’s athletic success is achieved while its member institutions remain committed to its founding
principle of admitting and graduating student-athletes that are academically representative of their class.
Participation in athletics at Patriot League institutions is viewed as an important component of a wellrounded education.
