Y.E.L.L. Is a leadership program open to all students in the 6th, 7th
& 8th grades. Community leaders present information to the
participants and afterwards students have a chance to react and
share their thoughts on the various topics. This spring we will also
be going on some great field trips! This program is facilitated in
collaboration with the Nantucket Police Department, the Nantucket
Community School & ASAP Nantucket and is funded, in part, through
the Drug Free Communities grant.
Nantucket Business Initiative

Location: NHS LGI
The mission of the Nantucket Business Initiative (NBI) is to give the
youth of Nantucket a resource to learn about business and a base
education to start their own. At Nantucket High School, there are limited
options for business classes. The NBI looks to fill the void by combining a
traditional high school club setting with the influential business
atmosphere of Nantucket. The three main activities of the initiative are,
listening to local business guest speakers, attending business oriented
events and giving back to the community through volunteer service with
the goal to build business skills for participants. NBI meets every other
Thursday after school in the NHS LGI and will have a speaker some days
while on others we will explore the world of finance or strategize about
potential business ventures amongst members with the long term goal
to foster the ability to succeed in business.
New classes may be added throughout the coming months.

Designed for children ages 3 ½ years and older, we offer a variety of swim lesson options. Our philosophy, based upon developmental
guidelines, promotes a fun and safe environment for children to learn how to become strong, confident and smart swimmers. We strive to
build a foundation of comfort, knowledge and respect of the water where swimmers become acclimated to the water while developing their
basic understanding of floating, breathing and blowing bubbles. Four levels are offered to target individual needs: Water Skills, Fundamental
Aquatics Skills, Stroke Development and Stroke Refinement. Placement will initially be done by lottery followed by open enrollment until
classes are filled. A waitlist will be formed as needed for any class. When signing up for multiple weeks, please use your best judgment when
choosing levels. We will make changes to class rosters as necessary.
Swimmers must be able to complete all the Primary Skills at a Mastery Level in order to enroll into the next
Level. At the conclusion of each week, swimmers will be awarded a Swim Certificate showing their progress in
the level. A level recommendation by the instructor for the next session will be indicated on the certificate.
