bulletin - St. Teresa Catholic Church

pathy for those he has been called to serve.
Such an authority comes not from the
power to coerce, but from the ability to inspire. Jesus’ authority lifts up rather than
controls; Jesus sees his call to lead as a
trust, as a responsibility to serve others by
revealing, not a God of judgment and vengeance, but the God who calls us to compassion and mercy for the sake of his Kingdom of peace.
“Unclean spirits” of anger, fear and hurt
can “possess” all of us --- but by his grace,
God enables us to cast out the “demons”
that isolate us, that mire us in fear and selfishness, that blind us to the love of God in
our midst, and discover, instead, purpose
in doing for others and meaning in being
the means for God’s healing and hope.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Thank you to Carolyn Magoteaux and her
family for preparing and serving the Italian
Dinner this past Sunday night. Many compliments have been given. Despite the
weather, this was a very successful community event. Thank you again!
THE LIGHT IS ON FOR YOU
The Light Is On For You is the
Archdiocesan-wide effort to invite people
back to the Sacrament of Reconciliation,
that is, confession. The date for this spiritual opportunity is Tuesday, March 3rd,
2015. The time is from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
throughout the diocese. Here at St. Teresa,
we will have the light on for you from 5:30
pm to 9:00 pm. We are all sinners so let’s
all experience the Lord’s mercy.
VOTIVE CANDLES
The votive candles that are usually in front
of our Blessed Mother and St. Joseph will
return. The beautifully crafted metal trays
were starting to rust. A parishioner is working on repainting them. The candle holders will be permanently attached once the
painting is done. This will help to beautify
our church and make sure our church is
safe. The candles will return. Thank you
for your patience.

From the desk of Father Haft
Greetings in the name of the Lord:
It is hard to believe that in just a few
weeks we will begin the season of Lent.
Lent begins Wednesday, February 18th,
2015. Here at St. Teresa, we will have an
Ash Wednesday Mass at 7:00 pm in the
evening. Confessions during the season
of Lent will be from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
on Tuesday evenings, from 4:00 pm to
4:30 pm on First and Third Saturday afternoons, and any time upon request.
During Lent, we take up the penitential
practices of prayer, fasting and alms giving. Also, we abstain from meat on Fridays. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday
are days of fasting and abstaining from
meat. Be sure to do more than just give
up something. Take up a new spiritual
practice or begin doing some form of outreach to those in need. I pray that all of
us will have a fruitful Lent.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Haft
4TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having
authority and not as the scribes...Jesus
rebuked the unclean spirit and said,
“Quiet! Come out of him!”.
