Wednesdays in Lent
Guest Pastor
Nooma, Greek for Spirit, breath
and wind, blows into Atonement on
Wednesdays during Lent. We'll watch
and reflect on short video clips by Rob
Bell (author of "Love Wins," and "What
We Talk About When We Talk God"),
who is currently on a speaking tour
with Oprah Winfrey. As one review
describes, "these films are a lifeline back
to God. I cried. They are a reminder
of God's constant compassion and
acceptance."
During the time that Pastor Greg is in
El Salvador, Pastor Frank Janzow will
be leading us in worship on Sunday's
February 15 and 22, as well as Ash
Wednesday, February 18.

Student Sponsorship
Student Sponsorship Update
Our group will plan to keep you
updated on their work through
Atonement's Facebook page.
Please pray for safe travel and safe work
for all of the participants.
Hear more about their trip in early
March!
We have received $7880 from 26 donors this winter as contributions to student
sponsorships. Thank you to those that have contributed!
This year we’re sponsoring 36 students, which includes 3 college/tech school
students and 6 High School students.
While we don't think we'll be able to meet the $16,000 which Pastor Margarita has
said students spend over the course of the year, we’ll meet most of the need. Our
giving has grown substantially for sponsorships.
If you are interested in helping sponsor a student, talk to Dave Dringenburg or
Nancy Hanks.

El Salvador Roofing
Thanks to the donation of $4,480.30 by our congreagtion given for roofing material, ten families in the Tepeagua communities
were able to receive new roofs. There was a very large need for roof repairs before the rainy season began this past year and we
were able to help with this by providing the materials with the home owners providing the work. Following are thank you letters
from the families who received the roofing materials.
I affectionately greet them and wish
them good health with their family after
this short greeting is the following:
Through this letter I want to thank God
and you for the blessing and help of
the sheets you gave me through Sister
Margarita because it was necessary to
build my house so I'm very grateful that
God pours out many blessings to all who
care about giving aid to the needy.
From: Xiomara Elisabet Altaro •
To our Sister Church:We greet you with
great affection and hope that you are
in good health and next to all the loved
ones around you. Thank you for the
valuable donation of the roofing sheets
handed to us by the Pastor Margarita,
which was very beneficial to us. We used
them to repair the roof that was already
damaged from the water that came with
the rain. But thanks to the new lamina
this no longer happens and we are now
safer. From: La Family Echeverria •
Dear Brothers and Sisters, May God fill
you with many blessings for your good
heart having given your support for the
roof of my house. I appreciate it very
much for it was very necessary. I do not
have payment, but God will compensate
them with overwhelming blessings.
From: Att. Rosario •
I hope after you read this letter greeting
good health finds you and your family
and friends.Thank you everyone but
especially God and you for the great
help that you sent us all the blessing of
the lamina so we can make our roofs
because we do not have some where we
live. We thank you whole heartedly for
your help. I tell you that I already live
in the house that has lamina and I am
happy because I have my own home. I
only say thank you for the help and that
God the blesses you much because I can
only thank you for your heart. I will
pray for you when I go to the church. I
care for you.
From: Alejandro Antonio Rogue •
Dear Brothers and Sisters, I hope you
are in good health as well as your family
and friends. We thank you for your help
and also send thanks to God for your
help. Our Father in heaven also bless
you for the help you have given us. We
are grateful for the sheets for our roofs.
It is a blessing for us and we thank God
that there are people of great heart as
you and wish you many blessings. Thank
you for being so generous to the family of
Sandoval Estrada. •
Greetings to our Sister Church. I greet
you cordially, wishing you are very
healthy, near your loved ones well after
this greeting comes your way. First,
my husband and myself are grateful
to you for the good work of a roof for
us, because really what you gave was
necessary and you have now removed
from us a great need and we had the
concern that rainwater would flood all of
our things. We have no way to thank you
for the great work you did for us and we
are truly very glad for this selfless work
that you all did to help and we cannot
find words to demonstrate how grateful
we are for the great work you do, not
only for us but for all families in general.
We really thank you very much
Well now, I leave God to give you good
health and trust that everyone knows
that you love helping families as you
have done right now. May God bless you
and may many blessings spill over to
continue with your purposes.
From the Familia Estrada Flores •
I hereby appreciate the help they gave me
by giving me the gift of lamina to repair
the roof of my house.

Yesseue Esmeralda Aviles, age 23
Samuel Alexander Bolaiue, age 5

Greetings! I hope that by reading this
short message you are in good health
and with the family with God. Thank
you and God for the great help that you
and Pastor Margarita gave us with the
lamina for our roofs. Thanks to you we
have a refurbished house because the
roof was all we had and when it rained
the water wet all of our possessions.
Thanks for the aid in our walk. I hope
you're fine because God is always with
us wherever we are he is with us. May
God always watch over and protect you
and keep you and enlighten you always.
From: Maria Fransisca Rogue •
Thanks brothers & sisters of the
Lutheran Church for the donation of
the sheets that we have received. May
God pour blessings over you and your
family and I hope that one day we may
be able to thank you personally! From

A very affectionate greeting wishing
that all are well and their families and
friends around them.
Thank God and you for giving the help
they gave today for the roofing sheets
and for the scholarship. My family is
very happy and grateful for this help to
us that is a blessing to us and also to
others. Also I want to give thanks to
Sister Margarita, you and the Lutheran
Church for this this blessing. I, Raul
Antonio Rivera Melendez am very happy
and grateful to all of you and to God the

God's Valentine gift of love to us
Was not a bunch of flowers;
It wasn't candy, or a book
To while away the hours.
His gift was to become a man,
So He could freely give
His sacrificial love for us,
So you and I could live.
He gave us sweet salvation, and
Instruction, good and true-To love our friends and enemies
And love our Savior, too.
So as we give our Valentines,
Let's thank our Lord and King;
The reason we have love to give
Is that He gave everything.
The Mary/Martha circle is busy baking fudge to be sold in the Gathering Space on
Sunday, February 8. The fudge will be sold after each worship service (while supplies
last). A perfect Valentine’s Day treat! All proceeds will be used to purchase items for
our annual school kit drive, which will get into full swing this July/August. Thank
you for your support of this ministry!

Parenting Tip
In keeping with the Valentine’s theme
for February…you and your child can
look up 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
List all of the things that LOVE is.
Have a devotional time each night or
morning leading up to Valentine’s Day,
starting on January 30.
Pick one of the words and talk about
how you can live out the word for
the day. For example, the first word is
PATIENCE. Ask your kids what would
living out patience in their day look
like? (You could even practice it. When
arriving at a destination everyone waits
in the car for 5 minutes before going
in.) Talk about ways to show someone
love today by being patient.
Love is: patience, kindness, not jealous,
does not brag, humility, respect &
honor, selflessness, not easily angered,
keeps no record of wrongs, does not
delight in evil, truth, always protects,
trust, hope, herseverance, and never
fails.
You could even have a special candy
treat each day as part of the devotion!

Daily Grace
Daily Grace is an on-the-go companion
for your journey, offering a
faith reflection every day. In
these brief writings you’ll
encounter God’s extravagant,
boundless, often surprising
grace, comforted, challenged, inspired,
consoled and confronted. The daily
reflection will stir you to live out your
baptismal calling. Take time to reflect,
offer a prayer and prepare for the day.

mobile device or visit www.welca.org
