MISIÓN PARROQUIAL
MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of St. John XXIII, are a multi-ethnic Roman Catholic
parish (founded on July 1, 2006) formed from the union of the Church
of the Resurrection, Fontana and St. Thomas More, Rialto. We seek
to nourish the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all families and people, so that
they can rejoice in the love of God in this life and in the life to come.
We endeavor to do this by fostering: an authentic Christian Stewardship, the Christian education of our youth and adults through Resurrection Academy and other programs, outreach to the poor and needy, and
the celebration of the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist.

Católica Romana multiétnica (fundada el 1de julio del 2006) formada
por la unión de la Iglesia de la Resurrección en Fontana y Santo Tomas

EDUCATE THE MIND AND HEART
As we celebrate the National Catholic Schools Week this
2015, from January 25 – 31, with the theme: “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service,” we join our school
(Resurrection Academy) to observe it in all our Sunday Masses, school
open house and other activities for students and families involving our
parish community. Through these events, the Resurrection Academy
focuses on the value Catholic education provides to young people and
its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.
Education, as we all know, is the bedrock of modern civilization and progress. It stands to the entire structure of modern society as
a keel and a veritable foundation. Thus, whatever happens to education resonates through family, industry, politics and, indeed, all professions: medicine, law, etc. The presence or absence of knowledge has
determined the fate of empires; it has lost and won wars, it has built
and impoverished economy. However the case, education has been a
great source of individual and societal empowerment. Without the
discipline of education the vision of a better tomorrow would remain a
fantasy for a long time to come.
The greatest problem we have today with our educational system is that at times it does not train the whole person
or lead to emotionally balanced personality. It is one thing for a
student to be merely literate and another thing to be educated.
Education involves cross-fertilization of ideas; ideas similar and
ideas contrary. Though the world is ruled by ideas yet not every
idea builds up but destroys. In fact, institutions built upon inordinately selfish ambition and power have always fallen. As the
demise of feudalism revealed to the ‘Lords’ that sectarian principles are never good for the health of the whole, the high rate
of indiscipline and juvenile delinquencies today tell us that
“Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build
it” (Ps. 127:1).
Though education is thriving today yet we see deteriorating trends that smack of a porous foundation. Any system of
education which intends to achieve its goal must learn to educate the whole person and not merely train his or her intellect.
This is so because educating a person involves formation and
information. Eruditio without probitas amounts to breeding
intelligent wolves. Today, our ‘newbreed’ are not far from being a nuisance to society. The Wikipedia has a list of about 38
school shootings in 2014 alone, ranging from incidents of
shootings on a school bus to shootings that occurred on the
campuses of K-12 public schools and private schools, colleges
and universities. Tolerance and respect are indispensable virtues imbibed through education but the rate of fanaticism today
is a sign that something is lacking in school system.
Our ‘newbreed’ students are increasingly proving impossible
mud in the hands of teachers and law enforcement agents. All the
struggles to straighten the stubborn formed through partial education
and formation are but wars against the symptoms. These surface signs
must lead us to the septic substratum. Or, have we mistaken the darts
for the devil? How can we achieve the purpose of education if we
reject the training of the heart together with the head? When this is
the case, the head acts without regard to the clamorous dissent of the
heart. Has God not been elbowed out of the school system today? The
blotting out of God’s influence is calling on parents to either send their
children to the Church schools or be ready to be more seriously involved in the religious education of their children who are in the public
schools.
As we celebrate Catholic Schools week this month, we
remind parents that the future of our Christian faith, ideal leadership,
respect for life, parental care, tolerance and patriotism lie in the balanced education of our children. “A stitch in time” they say, “saves
nine.”

EDUCAR LA MENTE Y EL CORAZÓN
Ya que celebramos la semana Nacional de las Escuelas
Católicas este 2015, de Enero 25 al 31, con el lema “Escuelas
Catolicas: Comunidades de Fe, Conocimiento y Servicio,” nos
unimos a nuestra escuela, (Academia Resurrección) para observarlo en todas nuestras Misas de los Domingos, Open House
y otras actividades para nuestros estudiantes y familias que implica a nuestra comunidad parroquial. A traves de estos eventos,
La Academia de Resurrección se centra en el valor de la educación Católica que brinda a los jóvenes y sus contribuciones a
nuestra Iglesia, a nuestra comunidad y a nuestra nacion.
Educación, como todos sabemos, es la piedra angular
de la civilización moderna y el progreso. Está a toda la estructura
de la sociedad moderna como una quilla y un verdadero fundamento.
Aunque pase lo que pase a la educacion resuena a traves de la familia,
industia, politica y efectivamente, a toda profesion; medicina, ley, etc.
La presencia o ausencia de conocimiento ha determinado el destino de
los imperios; se ha perdido y ganado guerras, se ha construido y empobrecido la economía. De cualquier manera, la educacion ha sido una
gran Fuente de empoderamiento individual y social. Sin la disciplina de
la educación la visión de un mejor mañana seguiría siendo una fantasía
durante mucho tiempo por venir.
El mayor problema que tenemos hoy en día con nuestro sistema educativo es que a veces no entrenan a la persona o conducen a
una personalidad emocionalmente equilibrada. Una cosa es un estudiante que sabe leer y escribir y otra cosa es ser educado. Educación
implica intercambio de ideas; ideas similares y ideas contrarias.
Aunque el mundo está gobernado por las ideas aún no cada idea acumula pero destruye. De hecho, instituciones construidas sobre instituciones excesivamente en ambicion egoista siempre han caido. Como la
desaparición del feudalismo revelada a los “ Señores” que principios
sectarios nunca son buenos para la salud de todos, la alta tasa de indisciplina y morosidad juvenil hoy nos dicen “ Si el Señor no contruye la
casa en vano trabajan los albañiles” (Salmo 127:1).
Aunque educación está prosperando hoy todavía vemos deterior de tendencias de una fundación porosa. Cualquier sistema de educación que tiene la intención de lograr su objetivo debe aprender a
educar a toda la persona y no simplemente entrenar su intelecto. Esto
es así porque educar a una persona implica la formación e información. Eruditio sin probitas asciende a cría lobos inteligentes. Hoy,
nuestro `nueva generacion` no están lejos de ser una molestia para la
sociedad. La Wikipedia tiene una lista de aproximadamente 38 escuela
que han tenido tiroteos en 2014 , desde los incidentes de tiroteos en el
autobús escolar a tiroteos que ocurrieron en los campos de escuelas
publica y escuelas privadas de grados K-12 , colegios y universidades.
Tolerancia y el respeto son virtudes indispensables asimiladas a través
de educación, pero la tasa de fanatismo hoy es una señal de que algo
falta en el sistema escolar.
Nuestra `nueva generacion’ los estudiantes están demostrando cada vez más imposible barro en las manos de los maestros y
agentes de la ley. Todas las luchas para enderezar el testaruda forma a
través de la formación y educación parcial son las guerras contra los
síntomas. Estas señales superficiales nos deben llevar al substrato séptico. O, nos hemos equivocado los dardos para el diablo? ¿Cómo
podemos lograr el objetivo de la educación si rechazamos la formación
del corazón junto con la cabeza? Cuando éste es el caso, la cabeza
actúa independientemente sin sentir clamor del corazón. No ha sido
Dios dado un codazo hacia fura del sistema escolar de hoy? El borrar
de la influencia de Dios pide a los padres a enviar a sus hijos a las
escuelas de Iglesia o estar listos para involucrarse más en serio en la
educación religiosa de sus hijos que están en las escuelas públicas.
Como celebramos la semana de escuelas católicas este mes,
le recordamos a los padres que el futuro de nuestra fe Cristiana, liderazgo ideal, respeto a la vida, cuidado de padres, tolerancia y el
patrotismo se encuentran en el equilibrio de educacion a nuestros
hijos. “ Una puntada a tiempo” dicen, “salva a nueve”.

The San Bernardino Diocese, Office of
Child and Youth Protection is requesting our parish to have all ministry volunteers to comply with Protecting God’s
Children Trining by March 1st, 2015. This is a mandatory training
and no exceptions will be made. The trining takes two hours with
once a month short Reading of monthly bulletin on-line. Class will
be conducted in English and Spanish. We must comply with this
request in order to serve our community.

Capacitación Presentado por la Oficina Diocesana para la
Protección de los Niños y de los Jóvenes esta pidiendo a nuestra
parroquia a que todos los voluntarios de los ministerios cumplan
con el entrenamiento: Protegiendo a los Niños de Dios, a mas
tardar el 1 de Marzo 2015. Este entrenamiento en mandatorio y no
habrá excepciones. El entrenamiento toma dos horas con lectura
breve una vez al mes de boletín mensual en línea. Las clases se
llevaran acabo en Ingles y en Español. Debemos cumplir con esta
solicitud con el fin de servir a nuestra comunidad.

Awareness and Education Weekend
Did you know when we became a diocese back in 1978 we had 118
diocesan priests and 256,000 Catholics? Now we have 65 diocesan
priests and 1,200,000 Catholics. This is a blessing but how are we
going to continue ministering to an increasing Catholic population?
With your faith, nothing will be impossible! This weekend you saw a
video about the important ministries the Diocesan Development Fund
(DDF) supports. The DDF gives us the opportunity to act together as a
diocesan family and support programs and services that are imperative
to our Catholic faith. Every gift, regardless of the size, even a gift the
size of a mustard seed, is vital to the success of the DDF appeal. Please
take time this week to reflect and pray about the blessings you are
called to share with your Catholic family.
Fin de Semana de Concientización y Educación
¿Sabían ustedes que cuando nos convertimos en diócesis en 1978
teníamos 118 sacerdotes diocesanos y 256,000 católicos? Ahora tenemos 65 sacerdotes diocesanos y 1,200,000 católicos. Esto es una bendición, ¿pero cómo vamos a continuar sirviendo a una población católica en aumento? ¡Con su fe nada será imposible! Este fin de semana
vieron un video sobre los importantes ministerios que apoya el Fondo
del Desarrollo Diocesano (DDF). El DDF nos da la oportunidad de
actuar unidos como familia diocesana y apoyar los programas y
servicios que son imperativos a nuestra fe católica. Cada donativo,
sin importar el monto, aun un donativo del tamaño de un grano de
mostaza, es vital para el éxito de la colecta del DDF. Por favor tomen
unos momentos esta semana para orar y reflexionar sobre las bendiciones que son llamados a compartir con su familia católica.
