a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called
them, and immediately they left their boat and their father and
followed him.

Scout Sunday Mass, February 1st, 10 am ~ All boys, girls and adults in Scouts (past &
present) are encouraged to attend the 10 am Mass at St Rose Parish on Sunday, Feb 1st.
Please wear your uniform to participate in a special Mass to celebrate scouting. As the premier youth program for boys and girls, scouting promotes duty to God and citizenship, and
provides great ministry for our faith to our youth. Join us in recognizing and celebrating our
Church’s relationship with scouting and all the youth and adults who give witness of their faith

Catholic Book Club
Sandwiches On Sundays (S.O.S) takes place
each Sunday at 9:30 am in Pioneer Park, rain
or shine. A nutritious bag lunch as well as hot
soup, coffee, hot cocoa, pastries, and fruit are
provided. Items needed are gently used
coats, jackets, sweaters, gloves, socks,
underwear, tarps, tents, propane stoves,
sleeping bags, and blankets. Suggested food
items are bread, fruit, granola bars, creamy
peanut butter, jam, nuts, raisins, dried fruit,
chips, cookies, goldfish crackers, bottled
waters, etc. Can you help with your time,
talent or treasure?

All parishioners are invited to join us as we read our next book “33 Days to Morning Glory” by
Michael E. Gaitley, MIC. This is a moving and transformative journey into the loving and
maternal heart of Our Blessed Mother. We will begin our journey on December 31 and end on
February 2, 2015. Books are $4.00 and are available in the vestibule of the church. Our next
meeting will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at 7 p.m. in the Adult Learning Center.
Bible Study
Book of Psalms. Why has the Church always considered the Psalms her most perfect book of
prayer? Why should Christians turn to the Psalms and make use of them in their own prayer
to God? Join others in this 7 week study to learn more about the Psalms. Classes will meet on
Thursdays starting February 12th and ending on March 26th. The registration forms are
available in the Church vestibule or Parish office.

California
Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Monterey is now assisting families to obtain affordable
health insurance through Covered California. A representative from Catholic Charities will be
here at St Rose of Lima Parish on Sunday, February 8th, with information and to answer any
questions. If you are interested in applying or have questions before this date about affordable
health insurance, you may contact a Certified Enrollment Counselor at Catholic Charities who
will be ready to assist you. The deadline to enroll in this program is February 15th. Catholic
Charities will also have extended hours and walk-in times. For more information, please

As many of you have heard, Pope Francis
plans to canonize Blessed Junipero Serra
sometime this year. At this time the Diocese of
the Monterey has no further information as to
whether Pope Francis will visit California while
in the United States in September of this year.
As soon as we have more information we will
pass it on to our parishioners here in the
Diocese of Monterey.
