ST. EDWARD PARISH SELECTED TO
PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL STUDY!
St. Edward Parish has been selected to participate in a
national study of vibrant parishes conducted by the
Catholic Leadership Institute!
Please help us participate by completing a 10-15 minute
survey online. The survey will be emailed to you by
[email protected]. The
survey will only be available from February 17 to March
10 and will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual
growth and enable you to provide feedback on what
efforts the parish is doing to help you grow. All
responses will be confidential and the parish will only
receive information about the community as whole.
We are trying to get the highest response rate possible.
This information will be invaluable to Fr. Belisle and our
Pastoral Plan Committee as we plan ahead and try to be
the best disciples we can be. We will receive the results
in May/June at which time, we will share what we have
learned with the entire parish.
If we don’t have an email address for you, please send an
email to <[email protected]> with your name so we
can add you to the list.
If you don’t use email - there will be opportunities to
complete the survey after daily and Sunday Mass and
you can obtain a paper copy by contacting Susan at
(360) 426-6134.
WE ARE UPDATING OUR DATABASE!

Northwest Catholic is a local initiative of the New
Evangelization. Its mission is to teach, inspire, and form
Catholic Christian disciples. Your contributions are
important to our parish because they reduce the
Northwest Catholic portion of the Annual Catholic
Appeal goals. A portion of the funds also supports the
U.S. bishops' Catholic Communications Campaign and
subscriptions for those who otherwise would not receive
the magazine. Please be generous.

ANSWER TO THE IQ QUESTION
False. Christ remains fully present in the
consecrated host after Mass and is worthy
of devotion and adoration in the tabernacle or the monstrance.
REST IN PEACE
Please pray for the repose of the souls of Florinda
Cardonas, Betty Lamberto, and William McGee.

THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
JANUARY 24 - 25, 2015
VERNOS SEÑOR ALREDEDOR DE SU ALTAR
EVANGELIO
Marcos 1, 14-20

SALMO RESPONSORIAL Salmo 24, 4bc-5bc. 6-7bc. 8-9
R. Señor, instrúyeme en tus sendas.
Señor, enséñame tus caminos,
instrúyeme en tus sendas.
Haz que camine con lealtad;
enséñame, porque tú eres mi Dios y Salvador.
R. Señor, instrúyeme en tus sendas.
Recuerda, Señor, que tu ternura
y tu misericordia son eternas;
- Sto. Francisco de Sales, Día Festivo: Enero 24
El Señor es bueno y es recto,
y enseña el camino a los pecadores;
hace caminar a los humildes con rectitud,
enseña su camino a los humildes.
SEGUNDA LECTURA
1 Corintios 7, 29-31
estuvieran;
los que sufren, como si no sufrieran;
los que están alegres, como si no se alegraran;
los que compran, como si no compraran;
los que disfrutan del mundo, como si no disfrutaran de él;
porque este mundo que vemos es pasajero.
Palabra de Dios.
Ruegue a Sto.
Nosotros
podemos ayudarle.

CHANGE OUR LIVES
In today's first reading, Jonah, sent by God to warn the
people, storms through Nineveh, frightening the citizens
out of their wits. It works! They repent before Jonah
makes his way through a third of the city, and God sees
"by their actions" how they have turned from evil. Then
we hear Paul telling the Corinthians that "the world in its
present form is passing away." He calls for a change of
heart. He stops short of telling them to set aside their
everyday lives, but still he urges them--rather mysteriously--to live as though they aren't doing the things
they're doing.
Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, "The kingdom of God is at hand!" The apostles-to-be abandon their
nets and follow him. Thus in all the readings we hear an
invitation to a radical and immediate change in our lives.
RITE OF DISMISSAL
The congregation may notice that some of their friends or
relatives are called forward after the recitation of the Apostles’ Creed and are given an exhortation and blessing before
they leave us to be coached on the Mass behind the glass
doors of the vestibule. This allows them the opportunity to
participate in the Mass, to ask questions, to feel more comfortable with the gestures, postures and responses of the
Mass. Pray that this effort will be successful in preparing
them for the reception of the Sacraments during Easter time.

COMMUNITY MEALS
We need volunteers to help provide for our increasing
community’s hungry! This is a very important ministry
and we need our community’s involvement. We are
facing an average of 70 to 100 meals a night and these
include an increase of families. If you are interested in
helping provide a dish or helping with the set-up or clean
up please sign up in the church narthex or contact our
coordinator, Mike Wallace at 432-8204 or Mary Chapman
for more information. We serve meals on January 26th
& 31st. (January 31st is soup night at Community
Dinner. If you would like to donate a pot of soup, please sign
up). We would like to thank Maria
Knight, Tom Bart, Paul Allard and
Glenn Bell for preparing and serving 106 meals last Sunday. You
are all a blessing!
