Dear parish family,
3rd Sunday Ordinary Time B
Christ calls us to reach those who are in need, to bless them and serve them in whatever capacity we can as baptized
Christians. But surely many of us have individual constraints of fully doing so because varying circumstances like work
and other mundane responsibilities. Yet by contributing to church and other charities we actually fulfill in part this
Christian duty. Our Diocesan Services Fund (DSF) is one clear avenue for us to reach out to others in a big way.
There are thousands of people served by the ministries of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston because of the
compassion and generosity of people who contributes or participates yearly to the DSF.
Our 2015 Diocesan Services Fund (DSF) begins next weekend in every parish throughout the Archdiocese of
Galveston-Houston. And this week, all registered parishioners will receive a letter from our Archbishop, Cardinal
DiNardo, along with a personalized pledge card, inviting you to hear Christ’s call of a generous heart and to Be Rich in
Good Works… Ready to Share through your participation in this year’s Diocesan Services Fund. Pray about your
DSF 2015 commitment, then complete the enclosed pledge card and return it via mail in the special envelope provided
or bring it Mass next weekend. If you prefer, you may go online at www.argh.org/dsf to make your donation. Your
generosity will allow our Catholic community to continue many vital programs and services.
There are actually more than 60 ministries and services that rely solely on this annual fund. If you wish you can also
“personalize” your DSF contribution by indicating which specific ministry among 60 ministries that your contribution you
would like to go. Like for example, indicate San Jose Clinic, or Seminary, or Youth program, Vocations, Campus Ministry, Education, etc… You can go to Archdiocese website and look for DSF then click program or ministries supported.
The average annual budget to run these various archdiocesan programs, ministries and services cost about 15 million.
Thus each parish has a goal to contribute that the archdiocese can meet the budget. Our parish goal this year is $
49,000.00.
I am happy to report that last year we met our goal. Thank you so much. With your compassion and generosity, we can
be sure to meet our goal again.
Blessings to you and have a good week!
Querida familia parroquial,
Fr. Tony
Padre Tony
