Thank You
A giant thank you to everyone who helped
us decorate our church for Christmas! Thank
you to everyone who donated poinsettias,
especially Yolanda who made it her mission
to find the white poinsettias Father Joseph wanted and in the
process bought all the available ones on the Westside! Thank
you to Chris for donating the trees and arranging to have them
delivered. Thank you to the Espinosa brothers for putting up
the Nativity Scene. Thank you to those who stayed after the
Spanish Mass and to those who came back to decorate and undecorate the church. Thank you to those who came out in the
cold and rain and put up and took down the exterior lights.
Our church was radiantly beautiful because of YOU!

Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority Launches Volunteer
Campaign for Largest Homeless Count in the Nation
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) needs 6,000 volunteers
to assist with the 2015 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, which will
take place countywide over three nights from January 27 to 29.
The 2015 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count is a critical opportunity to gain information about the size and scope
of the challenge we face to house community residents experiencing homelessness. We use this information to better
target our homeless service resources. Volunteers will make a difference in their community, and the lives of their
homeless neighbors, by committing four hours of their time.
The Homeless Count for the West Los Angeles and South Bay areas will be on
Wednesday, January 28 at 8:00PM.
Visit TheyCountWillYou.org to register or to get more information about the count.

INSTAGRAM: POSTING DANGERS
One of the most popular mobile applications
(apps) for photo sharing is called Instagram.
Instagram allows members to digitally edit,
upload and share photos and short videos with other
members through the Instagram website, email, and other
social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare,
Tumbler, and Flickr—all with a single click. The biggest
danger for young people is that the photos and videos that
they are posting on Instagram are accessible to countless
unintended viewers…which means the images can be
viewed by anyone in the world. For more information visit

Cristo. No buscamos recibir atención, gloria

llama Instagram. Instagram permite que los
miembros editen, descarguen y compartan digitalmente

Scripture Readings for January 25, 2015
Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
First Reading: Jonah 3:1-5, 10
The Lord sent Jonah to the sinful city of Nineveh to
warn them that he would destroy Nineveh in forty days.
When the people of Nineveh heard the prophecy, they
believed, and they fasted and put on sackcloth. The
Lord, seeing their repentance, relented in his intention to
destroy the city.
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:29-31
St. Paul advises us to live the life of God rather than the
life of the world.
Gospel: Mark 1:14-20
After John had been arrested, Jesus preached in
Galilee. There he saw Simon and his brother Andrew
casting their nets. He said to them, “Come after me and I
will make you fishers of men.” They immediately
abandoned their nets and followed him. Then he invited
James and John and they immediately left their father,
Zebedee, in the boat and followed Jesus.

Kids: How can I help a friend or classmate feel invited to
follow Christ?
