after May 26, 2015. All
winners will be notified by
April 17 and will be invited
to the A’Cat’Emy Awards.
The awards ceremony will
be held on Sunday, April 25,
2015 at the Oregon Humane
Society. Each winner’s
immediate family and
teacher are also invited.

Grade 1 Be Kind And Love Your Pet
Grades 1 - 2 I love my pet because... Up to 200 words
Be gentle, kind, and quiet. Never hit, tease, or make your pet feel bad by
chasing, riding, squeezing, or pulling its ears or tail.
Grade 2 All Pets Need Care And Attention Everyday
All pets need care every day. Give your pet food, water, a soft bed, and lots
of love. Each type of pet is different, so make sure you know what they
need to be happy and healthy.
Grades 3 - 4 I know my pet is a part of the family because... Up to 250 words
Grades 5 - 6 My pet is a good friend to me because... Up to 300 words
Grades 7 - 8 My pet has taught me... Up to 350 words

Grade 5 Pets Need To Be Members Of The Family
Pets have feelings and need to spend time with their people. Include them
in family activities.
Grade 6 Health And Wellness Is Important For Your Pet
Annual visits to the veterinarian, high quality food, and regular exercise will
help your pet stay healthy and live longer.
Grade 7 Petopia, A Place Where People And Pets Thrive
A Petopia is a community where people make sure that all pets, both
homeless and owned, are safe and loved.
Entry Rules
1 All youth (grades 1-12) in the state of Oregon plus Clark County,
Washington, are eligible to participate.
2 All entries must be written by the student only, with no help from others,
except for spelling or punctuation.
Grade 8 Choose The Right Pet For You
All pets require different levels of commitment, from a lower maintenance
goldfish to the high energy border collie. Research before you adopt.

A 4” x 6” photo that ties into the theme is preferred, but not necessary.

Snapshots may be taken by the student, family or friends.

Entries are preferred typed, but may be handwritten.

Entry Rules
1 All youth (grades 1-12) in the state of Oregon plus Clark County,
Washington, are eligible to participate.
• Connects young people to a community outside of the classroom
• Aligns with Oregon Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for the
Arts & Language Arts
• Enriches character education curriculum

Follow the specific theme for your grade. Stencils or computer fonts may
be used if you choose to print the theme on the poster.

Use any medium such as marker, paint, colored pencil or crayon, but
please, no pastels. Neatness and creativity are important.
