Researchers in early intervention are invited to submit their papers. The details are presented below. Please distribute this announcement to interested colleagues. CALL FOR PAPER -‐ Special Issue on Current Perspectives in Early Intervention. Escritos de Psicología (Psychological Writings) DETAILS Early intervention is a relatively recent discipline and scientific research in this field has benefitted from contributions from the fields of Psychology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Physiotherapy, Pedagogy, Social Education, and Speech Therapy. As the National Guidelines on Early Intervention (Libro Blanco de la Atención Temprana) stated, this “…combination of actions is aimed at responding as soon as possible to the transient or permanent needs of children who have developmental disorders or who are at risk of having them. Early intervention targets children up to 6 years old, their families, and their environment”. This conception of early intervention is based on different perspectives and models, and establishes early intervention as an indispensable action to promote the health and development of these children and their families. Prevention, assessment, and treatment are the three bases of early intervention, which entails a holistic approach to children and the socio-‐familial environment. This Special Issue of Escritos de Psicología (Psychological Writings) therefore aims to highlight recent work on early intervention from different approaches, and to provide a forum to review new prevention and intervention techniques as well as specific assessment tools. In summary, this Special Issue seeks to provide professionals working on direct intervention and researchers in the field with useful information. Papers for publication will be selected through rigorous anonymous peer review to ensure originality, timeliness, relevance, and readability. The guest editors for this issue are Carmen Barajas Esteban (University of Málaga, Spain), Rita Pilar Romero Galisteo (University of Málaga, Spain), and Pablo Gálvez Ruíz (International University of La Rioja, Spain).
