LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
Sometimes it is good for us to remember the basics of our
faith. The human race was created to live in communion with
God, in whom alone we find happiness. This is our
fundamental purpose in life - it's the reason that nothing else
in the world satisfies our deepest desires. Not money,
because money runs out. Not pleasure, because pleasure
wears off and lasts only as long as the action producing it.
Not power, because power corrupts. Our hearts were made
for more than all those things. They were made to love and
be loved with an eternal love, and that can only come from
God. But Adam and Eve walked out on God, and the human
race became lost and fell under the power of the devil. We
couldn't save ourselves, so Jesus came to rescue us. As a
true man and true God, he was able to end mankind's
rebellion against God and reestablish our communion with
God. It is hard to understand, but it's true.
There once was a boy who spent many hours building a
model sailboat. When he put it in the local river, however, it
moved away from him quickly. He chased it along the bank,
but the strong wind and current carried the boat away. The
heartbroken boy knew how hard he would have to work to
build another sailboat. Downriver, a man found the beautiful
boat, took it to town, and sold it to a toy store. Later, the boy
was walking through town and noticed the boat in the store
window. He explained the situation, but the shopkeeper
didn't believe him and said that the only way to get the boat
back was to buy it. The boy wanted it back so much that he
did exactly that. Then he looked at the boat and said, "Little
boat, now you're twice mine: I made you and I bought you."
That's what God did for us - we are twice his. He created us
and bought us back when we were lost, but instead of paying
cash, he paid with his blood - the blood of the Lamb of God.
From there comes all the self-worth we’ll ever need. Never
forget that, and live each day who God made you to be.

CARTA DE NUESTRO PÁRROCO
Queridos Parroquianos,
A veces es bueno recordar los fundamentos de nuestra
fe. La raza humana fue creada para vivir en comunión
con Dios, en el cual solo encontramos la felicidad. Este
es nuestro propósito fundamental en la vida - es la
razón por la que nada en el mundo satisface nuestros
deseos más profundos. Ni el dinero, porque el dinero se
termina. Ni del placer, porque se desgasta y dura sólo
mientras la acción se produce. Ni del poder, porque el
poder corrompe. Nuestros corazones se hicieron para
amar y ser amados con un amor eterno, y que sólo
puede venir de Dios. Adán y Eva huyeron de Dios, y la
raza humana se perdió y cayó bajo el poder del diablo.
No podíamos salvarnos solos, así que Jesús vino a
rescatarnos. Como un verdadero hombre y verdadero
Dios, él fue capaz de poner fin a la rebelión del hombre
contra Dios y restablecer la comunión con Dios. Es
difícil de entender, pero es cierto.
Había una vez un niño que pasó muchas horas
construyendo un velero. Cuando él lo puso en el río, se
movió lejos de él rápidamente. Él lo persiguió a lo largo
de la orilla, pero el fuerte viento y la corriente se
llevaron el barco. El afligido muchacho sabía lo difícil
que tendría que trabajar para construir otro velero. Río
abajo, un hombre encontró el hermoso barco, lo llevo a
la ciudad y se lo vendió a una tienda de juguetes. Más
tarde, el niño caminaba por la ciudad y notó el barco en
la ventana del almacén. Explicó la situación, pero el
tendero no le creyó y dijo que la única manera de
recuperar el barco era comprarlo. El muchacho quería
tanto su barco que hizo exactamente eso. Entonces
viendo el barco y dijo, "barquito, ahora eres dos veces
mío: te hice y te compré." Eso es lo que Dios hizo por
nosotros - somos dos veces su. Él nos creó y nos
compró cuando andábamos perdidos, pero en vez de
pagar en efectivo, pagó con su sangre - la sangre del
cordero de Dios. De allí viene toda la autoestima que
necesita. Nunca olvidarlo y vivir cada día que Dios te
hizo ser.

Para que podamos vivir fielmente como mayordomos de Dios,
cumpliendo el plan que Él tenía para cada uno de nosotros
cuando Él nos formó en el vientre.
"Y ahora ha hablado el Señor, que me formó como su sirviente
desde el seno materno ..." Isaias 49:5
Tú tienes que hacer lo que Dios te está llamando a hacer y yo
tengo que hacer lo que Dios me está llamando a hacer a mí.
¿Adivina qué?, ¡para cada uno hay un plan diferente! Por lo
tanto, deja de compararte con los demás. No dejes que la
envidia y los celos entren en tu vida. Sé agradecido por los
dones que Dios te ha dado y compártelos generosamente con
otros.
¿POR QUE LOS PADRINOS Y MADRINAS DE BAUTISMO
TIENEN QUE ESTAR CASADOS POR LA IGLESIA? El ser
padrino o madrina, no solo de Bautismo, sino de cualquier
Sacramento, representa a la misma Iglesia. No es solo porque es
alguien de la familia, conocido, o el que va a pagar la fiesta. Los
padrinos y madrinas, representan en ese momento a nuestra Iglesia.
Y si la representan lo deben hacer de manera completa. Tenemos
muy seguido solicitudes para bautizar pidiendo que alguna pareja
que están casados solo por la ley civil y no por la Iglesia, sean los
padrinos. La respuesta es NO pueden, porque entonces NO están
representando completamente a la Iglesia. No juzgamos porque si o
por que no se han casado por la Iglesia, eso es algo personal, pero si
están queriendo ser padrinos por la Iglesia es porque van a dar
ejemplo de vida a su ahijado(a) viviendo su fe y recibiendo sus
sacramentos. El ahijado o ahijada esta “viendo” en sus padrinos que
el Sacramento del Matrimonio no es necesario, y la realidad es que
necesitamos a Dios en nuestras vidas y dar ejemplo de su presencia
en todo lo que hacemos. ¿Si invitando a Dios al casarnos por la
Iglesia, nos va como nos va, que pasa si no lo tenemos?

San Jerónimo mantiene un archivo de su membresía y donaciones para

de sus donaciones para que haga su deducción en los impuestos/IRS.

cada misa por medio de su sobre. Y en cuanto a nosotros, este registro
nos sirve para saber a cuantas familias servimos. Es muy importante dar
un ejemplo positivo a nuestros hijos. Esta práctica se puede pasar de
generación en generación. Lo invitamos a que seriamente reconsidere el
registrarse en San Jerónimo el tercer domingo de cada mes después de
la Misa de 12 medio día.
