“TOGETHER BUILDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD”

Go to the crossroads and invite everyone you find to the wedding feast
Today, Jesus presents us with the king (the Father), inviting his guests through his “servants” (the prophets) to the banquet of the Holy Alliance of his Son with Mankind (our salvation). First he did it with Israel, «but
they refused to come» (Mt 22:3). Despite the refusal the Father kept on insisting: «I have prepared a banquet,
(…) and now everything is ready; come then, to the wedding feast» (v. 4). But that rebuff, seizing the servants,
insulting and killing them, made the king angry, so he sent his troops to destroy the murderers and burn “their”
city, (cf. Mt 22:6-7): Jerusalem.
So, consequently, through other “servants” (the apostles) —sent to «the
crossroads», (Mt 22:9): «Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them…», will, our Lord
Jesus, in Mt 28:19 tell them later on— we are invited, the rest of mankind, that is, «everyone they found, good
and bad alike, so that the hall was filled with guests» (Mt 22:10): the Church. However, the question is not
only to attend the banquet when invited, but also, and to a great extent, the dignity we may display, when at the
banquet («the wedding garment», cf. v. 12). St. Jerome commented in this regard: «The marriage garment is the
commandments of the Lord, and the works which are done under the Law and the Gospel, and form the clothing
of the new man. That is, the deeds of Charity our faith must be accompanied with».
We know that Mother Teresa of Calcutta, used to go out every night looking for the moribund to give
them, with love, a proper dying: clean, tucked in, and, if possible, baptized. Once, she said: «I’m not afraid of
dying, because when I will be before the Father, there will be so many poor I gave Him with the wedding garments, that they will know how to defend me». Blessed she may be! —Let us learn that lesson, too.

Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes before each mass during October. We
encourage everyone to pray the Rosary with your family.
The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the St. Michael Chapel
continues next Tuesday, October 14 from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The registration is every Saturdays
until October 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the trailer. New children

MEETING. The parents of the First Communion students will have a
meeting next Sunday, October 18th 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in the Hospitality

R.C.I.A. The R.C.I. A. classes for adults who will like to enter the Catholic
Church, or receive the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation are on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. If you know someone who is interested,

CRUCIAN BREAKFAST. The members of the Neocatecumenal Way are
having a Crucian Breakfast on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 8:00
a.m-. until 11:00 a.m. at the church parking lot. We are asking parishioners
for their support in purchasing tickets which are available after mass and
at the rectory during office hours. Tickets are $10.00. The proceeds will go
towards the needs of the parish.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. The second collection next weekend,
October 18-19 will be for the Propagation of the Faith. This collection is
destined for a common fund of solidarity distributed in the Pope’s name, by
the Society for the Propagation of the Faith among the missions and missionaries of the world. Thank you.

the campaign to collect used eyeglasses. You will find identified boxes for
this purpose in participating stores across the island. If you have glasses you

“JUNTOS CONSTRUYENDO EL REINO DE DIOS”
Id a los cruces de los caminos y, a cuantos encontréis, invitadlos a la boda
Hoy, Jesús nos muestra al rey (el Padre), invitando —por medio de sus “siervos” (los profetas)—, al
banquete de la alianza de su Hijo con la humanidad (la salvación). Primero lo hizo con Israel, «pero no quisieron venir» (Mt 22,3). Ante la negativa, no deja el Padre de insistir: «Mirad mi banquete está preparado, (...) y
todo está a punto; venid a la boda» (Mt 22,4). Pero ese desaire, de escarnio y muerte de los siervos, suscita el
envío de tropas, la muerte de aquellos homicidas y la quema de “su” ciudad (cf. Mt 22,6-7): Jerusalén.
Así es que, por otros “siervos” (apóstoles) —enviados a ir por «los cruces de los caminos» (Mt 22,9):
«Id, pues, y haced discípulos a todas las gentes bautizándolas...», dirá más tarde el Señor Jesús en Mt 28,19—
fuimos invitados nosotros, el resto de la humanidad, es decir, «todos los que encontraron, malos y buenos, y la
sala de bodas se llenó de comensales» (Mt 22,10): la Iglesia. Aún así, la cuestión, no es sólo estar en la sala de
bodas por la invitación, sino que, tiene que ver también y mucho, con la dignidad con la que se está («traje de
boda», cf. v. 12). San Jerónimo comentó al respecto: «Los vestidos de fiesta son los preceptos del Señor y las
obras cumplidas según la Ley y el Evangelio que son las vestiduras del hombre nuevo». Es decir, las obras de
la caridad con las que se debe acompañar a la fe.
Conocemos que Madre Teresa, todas las noches, salía a las calles de Calcuta a recoger moribundos para
darles, con amor, un buen morir: limpios, bien arropados y, si era posible, bautizados. Cierta vez comentó: «No
tengo miedo de morir, porque cuando esté delante del Padre, habrá tantos pobres que le entregué con el traje
de bodas que sabrán defenderme». ¡Bienaventurada ella! —Aprendamos la lección nosotros.

ANUNCIOS DE LA PARROQUIA
La segunda colecta de hoy es para la electricidad y el mantenimiento
de la iglesia. Gracias.
MES DEL ROSARIO. Octubre es el mes del rosario y por tal razón rezaremos
el rosario todos los domingos 20 minutos antes de todas las misas. Les alentamos
a que recen el rosario en familia.
ROSARIO. La Vírgen se llevará mañana lunes 13 de octubre a las 7:00 p.m.
a la casa de Brunilda Santana en Calqouhoun, donde se rezará el rosario y permanecerá allí por todo el mes. Para los que no saben donde Brunilda vive, nos
reuniremos en el Shanty the Calquhoun a las 6:30 p.m. para salir a las 6:45 p.m.
ADORACION. La adoración del Santísimo en la capilla de San Miguel continúa
el próximo martes 14 de octubre de 7:00 a.m. a 6:00 p.m.
CATECISMO. Las clases de catecismo son todos los sábados de 9 a 11 de la
mañana. La matrícula está abierta todos los sábados hasta el 25 octubre de 9:00
a.m. a 11:00 a.m. en el trailer. Favor de traer el certificado de bautismo cuando
vengan a matricular a estudiantes nuevos. Les pedimos que traigan sus niños a
tiempo. Gracias.
LAS CLASES DE CATECUMENADO para aquellos adultos que quieran ser
miembros de la Iglesia Católica, o recibir los sacramentos de bautismo, comunión
y, o confirmación, son los sábados a las 11:30 a.m. Si sabes de alguien que este
interesado/a favor de llamar a la rectoría. Gracias.
REUNION. Los padres de los estudiantes de la Primera Comunión, tendrán una
reunión el próximo sábado 18 de octubre a las 10:30 a.m. en el Salón de Hospitalidad. Favor de asistir y ser puntuales. Gracias.
DESAYUNO CRUZANO. Los miembros del Camino Neocatecumenal, tendrán
un desayuno cruzano (Cruzan Breakfast) el sábado 22 de noviembre de 8:00 a
11.00 de la mañana en el estacionamiento de la iglesia. Les pedimos que nos
ayuden en la compra de los boletos que están disponibles después de la misa y en
la rectoría en horas de oficina. El precio es de $10.00. Los fondos se destinarán
a las necesidades de nuestra parroquia. Gracias.
Domingo MUNDIAL DE LAS MISIÓNES. La segunda colecta del próximo
domingo 19 de octubre será para la Propagación de la Fe. Esta colecta está destinada a un fondo común de solidaridad, distribuído en nombre del Papa por la
Sociedad para la Propagación de la Fe para las misiones y los misioneros del
mundo. Gracias. .

DE LA CANCILLERIA. Este año la Sexta Gala Anual del Galardón de las
Llaves y Espada, se llevará a cabo el sábado 31 de enero del 2015 a las 6:00 p.m.
en el Hotel Marriott Frenchman’s Reef, en St. Thomas. Los homenajeados de
este año se darán a conocer en la edición de noviembre del “Catholic Islander”.
Muchas gracias por apoya este evento y el continuo esfuerzo para terminar la
restauración de la Catedral de San Pedro y San Pablo.
El St. Croix Lions Club (Club de Leones) se ha unido a la Campaña
Mundial del Club de Leones Internacional para la recolección de espejuelos usados. Para este propósito se han colocado cajas identificadas en negocios a través
de toda la isla. Si tienen espejuelos que ya no les sirven, éstos pueden ayudar a
otros más necesitados en áreas rurales e inaccesibles alrededor del mundo. Por
favor, compartan, para que otros puedan ver. Pueden entregárselos al Sr. Pablo
Rojas después de la misa o buscar las cajitas en negocios participantes. Ayuden
al Club de Leones a ayudar.

Noviembre 24, 1935. Domingo,
primer día. Fui inmediatamente delante del
Santísimo Sacramento y me ofrecí con Jesús
que esta en el Santísimo Sacramento, al Padre
Eterno. Entonces oí en el alma estas palabras:
Tu intención y la de tus compañeras es unirse
a Mi lo mas estrechamente posible a través
del amor, reconciliaras la tierra con el cielo,
mitigaras la justa cólera de Dios e impetrarás
la misericordia por el mundo. Confío a tu
cuidado dos perlas preciosas para Mi Corazón,
que son las almas de los sacerdotes y las
almas de los religiosos; por ellas rogarás de
manera especial, la fuerza de ellas vendrá de
