Great Notion Brewing (a Beach School Family owned Business)
will be sponsoring our Holiday food and Toy Drive. Great Notion
is donating 10% of their profits that day to the SEI SUN Program at
Beach Elementary School. Please support our families by bringing a
wrapped toy and non perishable food item.
TAG nominations are closed, thank you to all the parents and teachers who nominated students. In December, the testing window for
nominated students will open, testing will continue into the new year.
You will be notified of testing dates for your student ahead of time.
There will be no Saturday Academy classes in December, they will

SUN REGISTR ATION
SUN Winter Registration opens Monday, December 5 and
closes Monday, December 12. Registration packets will be
available during SUN pick up (4:30pm - 5:30pm), in the
school office, and on the Beach school website. The winter
session begins Monday, January 9.

‘Tis the season of giving and caring! SUN will be providing Winter
Holiday food boxes to families within our Beach School community.

Happy December here at Beach! A big shout out and congratulations to the class of the 1st Quarter Win, Ms. Ponz’s 3rd grade
class! Classes who excel during class game times are rewarded with
a golden shoe trophy they keep in their classroom and a free game
time. Please visit the bulletin board located in the cafeteria to see a
picture of this class with their trophy. Also, Girls Basketball begins
December 2nd with games starting up. A schedule of practices and
games will be posted on the bulletin board for those who wish to
attend League Games or volunteer for support during practices.

with the Girls Basketball League, recess and my Junior Coach

YEARBOOK
Our fabulous yearbook coordinator is looking for parents who are interested in developing our school yearbook. If you enjoy taking pictures, have
an eye for creative formatting, or are looking for a flexible online project,
please sign up to help produce our first school-wide yearbook. This is a
great opportunity to do as much or as little volunteering as you want.
Yearbook Committee information meeting will be held in early

Just a reminder to check the lost and found for lost items. There is

BEACH SUN SCHOOL FOOD PANTRY
Come one come all! The Beach SUN School Food Pantry
is open every Tuesday from 3:45-5:30pm in the main hall
across from the gym. In partnership with Urban Gleaners and
Whole Foods, the Food Pantry will be stocked with fresh fruit, veggies, bread, organic juices, dairy products and surplus deli food.

from 4PM – 5PM on Tuesday, December 20 & 27**

VOL UNTEERING AT BE ACH
VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECKS:
We love having parents volunteer in our classrooms and chaperone on
field trips. All volunteers must complete a background check prior to
volunteering their time at Beach or for school activities. PPS background
checks are available online. The approval process takes approximately
two weeks and is good for 3 years. Renewals can be completed within 30
days of expiration. Please go to the PPS Security Services department page
to complete your application.
MEC P - PRE-K
Our Beach Preschool through Multnomah Early Childhood Program is still
enrolling children ages 3 to 5. The preschool offers two time slots,
8:40-11:25 AM OR 12:15-3:00 PM. Tuition is $32 per month, with
free and reduced tuition available for families who qualify. Please contact
Dameri Wagner or the classroom teacher, with any questions.

I hope you all enjoyed a great Thanksgiving break surrounded by family,
friends, and good cheer. As a big believer in the power of gratitude, I want
to express how grateful I am to serve the Beach community. Research on
the science of gratitude reveals its ability to transform our lives and it’s
power to strengthen relationships and communities. It isn’t always easy
to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, we must be willing to recognize and
acknowledge that we are the recipients of unearned gifts. As we approach
the holiday season, I hope you will join me in seeking out moments to be
grateful. I know for me, this happens every day as I walk into a community where teachers, staff, and families care deeply about students and
learning. As time allows, please check out what our students and staff are
grateful for on the gratitude tree posters in every classroom. Thank you for
all that you do and for being you!
The weeks heading into winter break can be stressful for students (and
adults), so we are planning some fun school-wide activities before students leave for break. We hope you will join us for the SUN showcase
- a wonderful opportunity to see our students shine on stage. We
will also host a book-fair and enjoy an iLumiDance performance
from Rainbow Dance (Utilizing electro-luminescent wire, fiber optic
fabric, black light and other special effects), as well as show off our
school spirit by dressing up as follows:

Finally, DBRAC has developed three draft options to address the size of the
schools feeding into Ockely Green. These options are not final--they are
ideas to prompt discussion among communities and DBRAC. Please look
these over on PPS’ website under Trending Links, District-Wide Boundary
Advisory Committee, and review the timeline and three scenarios that will
impact Beach directly. These will also be posted on our website.

Beach School Foundation provides funding for staff beyond
the district’s annual allocation. While the PTA can pay for
certain things, only Foundation can fund staff. Foundation
depends on your fundraising and the PPS Parent Equity
Fund, which has given Beach $20,000 per year for the past
several years.

SchoolPay es la manera segura y fácil de pagar electrónicamente
gastos relacionados con la escuela. Elimina la molestia de estar

Sun - una oportunidad maravillosa para ver a nuestros estudiantes
brillar en el escenario. También vamos a organizar una feria de
libros y disfrutar de ilumidance de rainbow dance (utilizando hilo
electro-luminiscente, fibra óptica tela, luz negra y otros efectos
especiales), así como mostrar nuestro espíritu escolar en vestirse
de la siguiente manera:
