The fee is $10 per student. Each food handler card is valid for 2 years.
This card is not a license to sell food. A retail food establishment license is required.

Food Safety Education Program
Mesa County Health Department wants to recognize your establishment and inform customers of your
commitment to food safety. Retail food establishments that require and maintain current food safety education
for 90% or more of their staff can receive a window cling and certificate from the Mesa County Health
Department. Approved food safety education for this recognition program includes:



The Mesa County Health Department food handler class (offered monthly)
The Mesa County Health Department online class offered through Statefoodsafety.com
ServSafe certification
In order to receive the window cling and certificate from the Mesa County Health Department, facilities must
complete the bottom portion of this page, provide a written policy and proof that their staff is trained using
approved food safety education.
Once the documentation is received, the certificate and window cling will be mailed to the facility. For more

Please enclose a copy of each employee’s food handler certificate/card and your written policy regarding food
safety education requirements in your facility. The policy must include when new employees are expected to
obtain approved education, how this will be monitored and the title of the person responsible for ensuring the
90% requirement is maintained.
