Our mission is to live as an engaging Catholic community,
formed by the Gospel, nourished by the sacraments, and
centered in the Eucharist. Rooted in Hispanic cultures,
we embrace diversity and welcome all. We seek to grow in
our faith and share it, to build unity and promote justice.

DID YOU KNOW…
Did you know that St. Francis of Assisi is one of a very small
number of saints who received the stigmata, the five wounds of
Jesus on the Cross, in his flesh? He was in fact, the very first in
recorded Christian history to receive it. This occurred in 1224,
two years before he died. He prayed to be like Jesus in all things,
and his first rule was the Gospel. Interestingly, Pope Innocent
III told him that the Order of Friars Minor that he wanted Rome
to recognize needed to revise the rule because it was too
demanding! In the end, his Order was recognized, and he and
twelve others began an Order that is world wide and has
thousands of members. He also helped St. Clare of Assisi to
found the Poor Clares, the Second Order. Since then the
Franciscan family has grown in many directions, the Capuchins,
the Third Order Regular, both men and women, the Third Order
Secular, laity who follow Franciscan spirituality, and many
other communities inspired by Francis.
Pope Francis, although he is a member of the Society of Jesus, a
Jesuit, took the name of Francis having been inspired by him.
The man who had trouble convincing Rome that his Order could
survive now has the sitting Pope bearing his name!
“Francis appeal goes beyond Roman Catholic tradition. St.
Francis is honored in the Church of England, the Anglican
Church of Canada, the Episcopal Church USA, the Old Catholic
Churches, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and
other churches and religious communities on October 4.
There are even some Lutheran and Angelican Franciscans in the
United States and throughout the world. Perhaps Francis
should be the patron of Ecumenism!

Every year, something special happens on the next-to-last
Sunday of October — the Church reflects its deepest identity
as the Church in mission. On World Mission Sunday,
Catholics of the world unite at Mass to recommit ourselves to
our vocation, through Baptism, to be missionaries. The
Church’s missionary activity begins with the proclamation of
faith: “Jesus is Lord!” He is our common hope –a hope that
saves. We are called in a special way to be missionaries through
prayer and participation in the Eucharist, and by giving
generously to the collection for the Society for the Propagation
of the Faith.

Heaven Sent
We are excited to announce that we are at the beginning of
another year of Faith Formation and we already have a
wonderful group of children that will be preparing for their 1st
Communion. A day that they should be brought forth to
receive the blood and body of Christ in their purest form, like
the angels that they are, dressed in white.
Unfortunately, not all families have the means to make this
happen. Therefore, we have decided to reach out to you in
hopes that you would be willing to participate in our
campaign called: "Heaven Sent", by donating a previously
owned white communion dress or suit for a child in need.
Soon you will see a donation box titled "Heaven Sent"
campaign in hopes that you find it in your hearts to help our
children of our community here at Sacred Heart Chapel.
Thank You
Gracias
As we pray and respond on the World Mission Sunday here at
home, we are sharing in those celebrations taking place in every
parish, seminary, school and convent all over the world. Our
brothers and sisters in the Missions themselves offer their
prayers and sacrifices so that others may come to know Jesus!
conocer a Jesús!
