Subiaco Academy! – A Catholic, Benedictine boarding and
day school for boys in grades 7-12 located just east of Fort
Smith, Arkansas. Subiaco Academy is hosting Shadow
Days on October 28 and November 18, 2016, for interested students and their parents to visit and explore the Academy’s junior and senior high college preparatory program. Young men in grades 6-10 are invited to spend the
night before Shadow Day in a residence hall and attend a
day of shadowing students, touring the school, and other
activities. Overnight accommodations are also available on
campus for parents. The event is free of charge.

On behalf of the 201 Fall Festival Committee for the
Parish of St. Francis of Assisi we want to thank you for your
generosity and support during this year’s Fall Festival. You
have given from your heart and love for our church and we
truly appreciate it. Without your help we would not be able to
make this Fall Festival a success.
It was an inspiration to see everyone volunteering together and enjoying the festivities. We had a great team of volunteers to work on the set-up and tear down after the event. In
weeks to come, we will give you an update on all the activities
and let you know how much money was raised and as you
know the funds will go toward the parking lot construction.

A pictorial directory is a powerful tool in our
church to help us get to know one another better. Our
last directory was in 2010 and it is time for a new one.
Photo sessions are scheduled in the parish center
classrooms on October 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, & 29 and on
November 3, 4, & 5. Signup sheets are in the Narthex
with the appointment times for dates listed.
Your participation will help the church and yourself. Every family photographed for the directory will
receive a copy of the directory and an 8x10 portrait at
no cost. You will also have the opportunity to purchase additional portraits at the time of photography.
If you are an Extraordinary Minister of Communion, Lector, or Commentator, the coordinator of each
ministry will take group pictures of each ministry at
each Mass on the days of October 29, and 30, so
please attend these masses to be in the directory.
Altar Servers group picture for all Masses will be
taken at the Altar Server training on November 7, so if
you serve, please attend.
Each organization, please take a picture of your
group at your next meeting so all groups can be included.
English, Spanish, & Children Choirs, at your next
choir practice please take a picture also.
Once your pictures are taken, please email them to

Dear St. Francis Family,
First of all, I would like to thank you all
for taking part in the success of our annual
Fall Festival Fundraising campaign for our
new parking lot!
Special thanks for our Fall Festival Committee through the leadership of Ms. Juanita Miramontes
who really came together and showed their best they can do
to make this just concluded fundraising festival a success.
In like manner, a special appreciation to all our PBO
(Parish Based Organizations) the KoC, Ladies Altar Society, CHRP, Renovación Parroquial, Encuentro Matrimonial,
Guadalupanos, Ultreya Group, De Colores and all other
individuals and groups like our own Filipino parishioners
and other food vendors.
For all our donors of the raffle prizes, silent auction,
bingo prizes, games, pony rides and all other activities.
To all our music performers, dancers and band singers
who really did give some entertainments during the event
and of course for the stage set up and for the sound system
donors. May our good lord through St. Francis bless you all
with the blessings you need in our day to day lives.

Many students from the RE program volunteered and worked to help
make the festival a success. Thanks to all the parents who supported
the festival either by buying raffle tickets, donating baked goods, or
by made it possible for their students to be there. It takes the participation and cooperation of the whole community to make a parish fest
such a success. Thanks to all!

SAFETY FIRST FOR OUR CHILDREN: Parents, help ensure
the safety of your children by coming into the building to pick
them up. Children are to be picked up preferably by their parents
or an adult designated by their parents. If they will be pick up by
an older sibling or other family member, please let your child’s
teacher know ahead of time. Also I have to remind you to pick up
your children on time after RE classes have ended. First Sunday
session starts at 8:30 am and ends at 9:30 am, Second Sunday
Session starts at 11:00 am and ends at 12:00 pm. Both Sunday
Sessions end early enough, so you have the opportunity to attend
at 10 AM Mass or 12:15 PM Mass.
SEGURIDAD PRIMERO PARA NUESTROS NIÑOS: Los
padres deben ayudar para garantizar la seguridad de sus hijos e ir
por ellos dentro del edificio para recogerlos. Preferentemente los
padres de familia deben recoger a sus hijos o un adulto designado
por ellos. Si un hermanito mayor de los niños va a levantar a su
hermano menor o algún otro miembro de la familia que no sean
los padres, favor de avisar al catequista con anticipación. También tengo que recordarles que debe recoger a sus hijos a tiempo

The 2016 Maryknoll Student Essay Contest is now open! This year’s
topic is: “Caring for Our Common Home”, asks the students to write
an essay explaining why it is so important to heed Pope Francis’ call
to respect earth and giving at least two examples of what they or others are doing to care for “our common home.”
