It is traditional that a Financial Report be
provided to the parish once a year. It is
prepared because total transparency is
important and because Catholics need to have a
sophisticated awareness of what it takes to
administer a modern, Catholic parish. In
addition to the spiritual and pastoral work of a
Catholic parish, there is also the important
administrative and financial work of the
parish. Each compliment and sustain one or
the other.

Pope to young people:
Not one of you is insignificant
Pope Francis made these remarks on Sunday to
at least 1.5 million young people gathered in Krakow for
the final Mass of World Youth Day.
“God loves us the way we are, and no sin, fault or mistake of
ours makes him change his mind,” the Pope said in his homily to the
crowds of young people.
“No one is insignificant,” the pontiff said. “He loves all of us
with a special love; for him all of us are important: you are important!”
“In his eyes, you are precious, and your value is inestimable.”
“We have been created in God’s own image; Jesus has
taken upon himself our humanity and his heart will never be separated
from us; the Holy Spirit wants to dwell within us. We have been called
to be happy for ever with God!”
“Not to accept ourselves, to live glumly, to be negative,
means not to recognize our deepest identity,” he said. “It is like walking away when God wants to look at me, trying to spoil his dream for
me.” “God is not concerned about whether you are stylish or what
kind of phone you have, Pope Francis said. “In his eyes, you are
precious, and your value is inestimable.” “He believes in us even
more than we believe in ourselves. He is always “cheering us on”; he
is our biggest fan.” However, to brood over our problems or “past
injuries,” the pontiff said, “is unworthy of our spiritual stature!”
“Francis encouraged the youth in their awareness of being
God's beloved sons and daughters, end recommended that they pray
every morning: “Lord, I thank you for loving me; help me to be in love
with my own life!”

Monday, August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption is
not a Holy Day of Obligation in our Diocese..
CCD Registration
Parents wanting to register their children for
CCD can register now at the Bunkerville
location on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and
Thursdays from 10-4pm. Registration will end
on Thursday, September 22nd and there will be no late
registrations. CCD classes start on October 11th.
I heard somewhere that a layperson cannot
deliver a eulogy at a funeral Mass. Are
there any circumstances in which it would
be acceptable?
Answer
According to the Order of Christian Funerals, there is never to be
a eulogy at a funeral Mass (OCF 27), although the celebrant may
express a few words of gratitude about the person’s life in his homily,
or he may allow a relative or a friend to say a few words about the
deceased during the concluding rite (GIRM 89). The remarks must be
brief and under no circumstances can the deceased person be
referred to as being in heaven. Only the Church has the authority to
canonize.
Contrary to common assumption, the purpose of the funeral Mass
is not to celebrate the life of the deceased but to offer worship to God
for Christ’s victory over death, to comfort the mourners with prayers,
and to pray for the soul of the deceased. Relatives or friends who wish
to speak of the deceased’s character and accomplishments can do so
at a prayer service to be held in a home or funeral home or at the
graveside following the rite of committal.
THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY:
A BELIEF SINCE APOSTOLIC TIMES
At the Council of Chalcedon in 451,
when bishops from throughout the
Mediterranean world gathered in
Constantinople, Emperor Marcian asked the
Patriarch of Jerusalem to bring the relics of
Mary to Constantinople to be enshrined in
the capitol. The patriarch explained to the
emperor that there were no relics of Mary in Jerusalem, that
"Mary had died in the presence of the apostles; but her tomb,
when opened later . . . was found empty and so the apostles
concluded that the body was taken up into heaven."
The Assumption completes God's work in her since it was
not fitting that the flesh that had given life to God himself
should ever undergo corruption. The Assumption is God's
crowning of His work as Mary ends her earthly life and enters
eternity. The feast turns our eyes in that direction, where we
will follow when our earthly life is over.
The prayer for the feast reads: "All-powerful and
ever-living God: You raised the sinless Virgin Mary, mother of
your Son, body and soul, to the glory of heaven. May we see
heaven as our final goal and come to share her glory."

Quinceañeras in Spanish are held on the last Saturday of the month at
12Noon. Quinceañeras in English are on Saturdays at Noon. The
young woman and her parents are required to meet with the Priest or
Deacon one month prior to the celebration.
FUNERAL MASS: Contact Parish Office for a date and time if not
already arranged through the mortuary. You will then be contacted by
our Funeral Mass Coordinator to arrange music and readings.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK/HOMEBOUND: To arrange
Communion to the sick or homebound or to receive the Sacrament of
the Anointing of the Sick for someone on Hospice, seriously ill, the
elderly or anyone scheduled for surgery call the Parish Office.

Escuché en alguna parte que un laico no
puede dar un tributo fúnebre en una Misa
fúnebre. ¿Hay alguna circunstancia cuando ésto sería aceptable?
Respuesta
De acuerdo a la Orden de Funerales Cristianos, nuunca debe
haber un tribute fúnebre en una Misa fúnebre (OCF 27), aún cuando
el celebrante puede expresar en su homilía unas palabras de gratitud
acerca de la vida de la persona o puede permitir que un pariente o
amistad diga unas pocas palabras acerca del fallecido durante el rito
final (GIRM 89). Los comentarios deben ser breves y bajo ninguna
circunstancia se debe decir que la persona fallecida está en el cielo.
Sólo laa iglesia tiene la autoridad de canonizar.
Al contrario de la creencia común, el propósito de la Misa fúnebre no es celebrar la vida del muerto, sino alabar a Dios por la victoria de Cristo sobre la muerte, darle consuelo a los dolientes con oraciones y orar por el alma del muerto. Los parientes o amigos que
desean hablar del carácter y logros del fallecido, pueden hacerlo en
un servicio de oración en un hogar o en la funeraria, o en el cementerio después del rito de internamiento.

Un mensaje del Padre Blaise…
Es tradicional que una vez al año se
provea un informe financiero a la parroquia. Se prepara el informe porque es
importante tener una transparencia total
y porque los católicos necesitan tener un
conocimiento sofisticado sobre lo que toma
el administrar una parroquia católica
moderna. Además del trabajo espiritual y
pastoral de una parroquia, también está el
importante trabajo administrative y financiero de la parroquia, El uno complimenta y sostiene al otro.

El Papa a los jóvenes:
Ninguno de ustedes es insignificante
El Papa Francisco hizo esos comentarios el domingo a por lo
menos 1.5 millones de jóvenes que se reunieron en Cracovia para la
Misa final del Día Internacional de la Juventud.
“Dios nos ama como somos y no hay pecado, falta, o error
nuestro que lo haga cambiar de idea”, dijo el Papa en su homilía a la
multitud de jóvenes.
“Nadie es insignificante”, dijo el pontífice. “El nos ama a todos con un amor especial; para El todos nosotros somos importantes:
¡ustedes son importantes!” “En sus ojos, ustedes son preciados y su
valor es incalculable”.
“Nosotros hemos sido creados en la misma imagen de Dios;
Jesús tomó nuestra humanidad y su corazón nunca se separará de
nosotros; el Espíritu Santo quiere habitar en nosotros. ¡Se nos ha
llamado a ser eternamente felices con Dios!”
“El no aceptarnos a nosotros mismos, el vivir taciturnamente, el ser negativo, significa no reconocer nuestra identidad más
profunda”, dijo él. “Es como alejarse cuando Dios quiere verme, tratando de arruinar su sueño para mí”. “A Dios no le preocupa si
ustedes están a la moda o que clase de teléfono tienen” dijo el Papa
Francisco. “En sus ojos, ustedes son preciados y su valor es incalculable”. “El cree aún más en nosotros que lo que nosotros creemos
en nosotros mismos. El siempre está alentándonos; El es nuestro
seguidor más entusiasta”. Sin embargo, el cavilar sobre nuestros
proble-mas o sobre agravios pasados, dijo el pontífice, “es indigno de
nuestra calidad espiritual!”
Francisco alentó a los jóvenes en su conocimiento de ser los
hijos e hijas amados por Dios y recomendó que oren todas las mañanas “Señor, te doy las gracias por amarme; ayúdame a tener amor
por mi propia vida!”

es un día de precepto en nuestra diócesis.
Inscripción para CCD
Los padres que desean inscribir a sus niños
para la doctrina pueden hacerlo en Bunkerville
los martes, miércoles y jueves de 10am a
4pm. La inscripción terminará el jueves 22 de
septiembre y no habrá inscripción después de
esa fecha. Las clases de doctrina comienzan el 11 de octubre.
La importancia de la doctrina cristiana.
Doctrina es un término que proviene del
latín doctrīna. Es el conjunto de enseñanzas que se basa en un sistema de creencias. Se trata de los principios existentes
sobre una materia determinada, por lo general con validez universal. Por ejemplo: “La doctrina cristiana postula la existencia de un Dios que es Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo”
La doctrina cristiana nos proporciona la visión de la vida
que necesitamos para que esta pueda tener un orden y una perspectiva unificada. El conocer la doctrina nos ayuda a compartir el Evangelio de Cristo y nos capacita para servir a Dios.
La religión tiene un gran poder humanizador. La enseñanza
religiosa escolar educa en los valores profundos, que permiten
unificar al ser humano y darle una finalidad última, que es la
felicidad. Se ha dicho con acierto que la religión es un factor
importante de identidad personal.

LA ASUNCION DE MARIA:
UNA CREENCIA DESDE LOS
TIEMPOS APOSTOLICOS
En 451, en el Concilio de Chalcedon,
cuando obispos del mundo mediterráneo se
reunieron en Constantinopla, el emperador
Marcian le pidió al Patriarca de Jerusalén
que trajera las reliquias de María a Constantinopla para ser enclaustradas en el
Capitolio. El patriarca le explicó al emperador que no había
reliquias de María en Jerusalén, que "María había muerto en la
presencia de los apóstoles; pero cuando abrieron su tumba más
tarde,...la encontraron vacía, así que los apóstoles concluyeron
que el cuerpo fue llevado al cielo".
La Asunción completa el trabajo de Dios en ella, ya que no
era apropiado que la carne que le había dado vida al mismo
Dios fuera a degradarse. La Asunción es la coronación del trabajo de Dios cuando María termina su vida terrena y entra a la
vida eterna. La festividad vuelve nuestros ojos en esa dirección, donde iremos cuando nuestra vida mortal termine.
La oración del día festivo dice así: "Dios todopoderoso y
eterno: Tú elevaste en cuerpo y alma a la gloria del cielo a la
Virgen María, la Madre de tu Hijo, sin pecado concebida. Que
