When I look back in time, I realize how fortunate I was to
pursue my Master’s degree at KDI School of Public Policy
and Management. While enjoying the most amazing eyeopening cultural experience of my life, the School offered
me the possibility to explore and learn from many areas
of knowledge through a careful selection of courses, a
proficient faculty staff that encouraged student participation
and an outstanding learning environment with excellent
infrastructure and a fully supportive administrative staff.
The diverse environment fostered at the School made the
experience even more enriching because it provided the
opportunity to listen to varied perspectives from students
of many nationalities and fields of work. Ultimately, KDI
School has presented me with the necessary tools to face
challenging situations at my work. In parallel, it has been
a significant element in my career progression. I am truly
thankful to KDI School for all the positive impact received.
Program
Pursuing a Master in Public Policy at KDI School has been one of the most enriching
experiences in my professional and personal life. As an Economist by training,
studying at KDI School provided me with the opportunity to observe and analyze
first-hand the determinants of the success of the Korean Economy, and to study
the policies that enabled it to successfully emerge from the 1997 Asian Crisis. The
classes I took at KDI School equipped me with the tools to conduct high-quality,
policy-relevant economic research: for instance, my MPP thesis was positively
commented by the Editorial of Portafolio, the most important economic newspaper
of Colombia, and published in the Report of the Colombia’s Financial Institutions
Association (ANIF).
My experience at KDI School was an important input for my decision to pursue a
career in research and to obtain a PhD in Economics at University of Maryland, USA.
Finally, the analytical tools taught and the multicultural environment at KDI School
have enabled me to successfully perform a career in economic institutions like the
IDB, the World Bank, the IMF, and the European Central Bank.
In short, KDI School has had a big impact on my professional development and has
left a huge mark in my heart!
