MAINTENANCE
JUAN MARMOLEJO
LAMAR SAXON
Dear Parishioners,
Last Sunday at the noon Mass we honored those young men an women
from the parish who graduated from High School this past week. We
are proud of them and their accomplishment. Our prayers go with them
as they go on to higher education or to the work force. Our prayer for
them is that they will continue to remain close to the Lord and to their
Catholic faith. The gift of faith will help them to do the best they can
when they face the challenges and the responsibilities of their ongoing
maturity as adults.
One bit of advice that I would offer them (and all of us) is that with faith,
God has given us the gift of resiliency. Resiliency is the ability to
bounce back, to pick one self up, and to recover from an adversity. We
can look at Jesus as an example of resiliency. He showed the way of
love and authenticity rather than the way of violence, hatred, and lies.
He was rejected and condemned as a criminal although he was innocent. He embraced and endured his tragic and painful death on the
cross with complete trust in his father.
His trust was rewarded for his obedience to the Father in his resurrection, in triumph over what appeared to be failure. He became the source
of our resiliency. Through what Jesus suffered he brings us new life.
He brings us forgiveness. He brings us the grace of resiliency. With him
we can bounce back. He picks us up. He helps us recover from adversity. Our faith in Jesus is the true source of our resiliency. With God, a
mess can be transformed into a message of hope. With God, when you
are given lemons, you can always make lemonade. There is always
hope!
May our graduates (and all of us) have the grace of resiliency as they
(and we) face the adversities of life.

Estimados Feligreses,
A él podemos regresar. Él nos
acoge.
