The water supply to Mexico’s Mega-City has been a difficult
problem to overcome. There are challenges such as: getting
deeper at the basin, additional aquifers located away,
extraction of g
groundwater near to a over-exploitation
p
threshold, uneven distribution and poor management. There
is not much more time to decide.
This presentation analyse the socioeconomic trajectory of
three local production systems (LPS) in Central Mexico
related to textiles, Talavera-style ceramics and fireworks, in
order to better understand the difficulties that local actors
experience when they attempt to improve their economic
and social performance.
