ST. LEO THE GREAT CHURCH
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA
www.stleofairfax.com
Dear Friends,
As you know, we began our capital campaign
(Remember, Respond, Renew-Growing Together in Christ)
last Fall. A series of several recepons, pulpit
announcements, and mailings were completed before the
holidays. Due to the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal effort, I have
not spoken about our campaign for some me and would
like to update you all.
As of this week we have received pledges from 733
families totaling $2,290,000. The amount redeemed so far
is $840,000. This is a three year campaign and I hope that
at its compleon we will have reached our original goal of
raising $3,400,000.
We have been able to complete a couple of the
less intensive renovaons associated with this campaign.
We have installed automac doors on the rectory side of
the church and have renovated the bathroom at the
entrance of the church (a baby changing staon will be
added shortly). Some of the more major repairs and
renovaons will begin this summer and early Fall. These
will include new flooring and lighng in the church as well
as a new heang and air-condioning system.
It is my plan to regularly update the parish as we
move forward with the various projects outlined in the
campaign brochure and which were discussed in detail at
the numerous recepons held earlier. I hope to hold
another series of recepons in the coming months for
those who may not have been able to a3end one last Fall
and for those who are new to the parish.
I cannot express enough how grateful and
humbled I am by the generosity of all who have
parcipated so far. I am very mindful of the many
obligaons we all face especially so during what connues
to be for many of us - “uncertain mes.” But again – I am
most grateful for your support and most especially for your
prayers and the many ways you help make our parish a
true home where the Lord is experienced, lived, and
shared.
In Christ,
