Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This weekend we continue the Jesus is Revealed
through Believing, Witnessing, and Rejoicing!
message series by exploring “Witnessing! BE a
Disciple.” Nothing could be done to prevent Jesus
from carrying out God’s plan. He has proven that
even after all of the persecution
brought upon Him, even to the point
of His death, in the end He stood
triumphant through faith in God’s love
and protection. Now that we say we
believe, the next key to revealing Jesus
in this Jubilee Year of Mercy is
through being a living witness to the
Good News of salvation. Jesus askes
that if we love Him, we are to do more
than passively follow Him. We are to
BE His disciples, standing for our
beliefs and feeding His people in mind,
body and spirit; hence, “catching” more
disciples and helping others experience
the fruits of God’s merciful love. The
great multitude of fish given by Jesus
was more than the disciples could
handle on their own. As a community
we accomplish far more than we could ever
imagine by each of us doing our part in
shepherding the people by the witness of our lives
in Christ.
And here’s some more Easter Good News…we can
now confirm that Fr. Michael Burke will be joining
our staff, full time beginning Monday, April 25th.
He has been released from his Diocese of Menevia
in Wales for a period of five years to
serve the community of St. Mary
Magdalen. We already know Fr.
Michael’s many gifts, and have
come to appreciate them and him
over the many years that he has
joined us during the month of
October. We feel so blessed,
especially with the passing of our
dear Fr. Ed, that this arrangement
could be done. We want to thank
Bishop Noonan, and Fr. Michael’s
Bishop in Menevia for allowing this
wonderful gift to our parish. And
we are delighted to welcome Fr.
Michael and his West Highland
Terrier, Gaudium as part of the
parish family. We are counting
down the days!
In Christ,
Our new St. Mary Magdalen app is now
available to download for iPhone and
Android smart phones. Stay connected
with our parish throughout the week with
instant notifications, an easy-to-access
event calendar, and the ability to quickly
reply to or share messages via Facebook
or Twitter. Also enjoy a bunch of additional features like prayers, daily readings, helpful reminders to silence your
phone before Mass or Confession, and
much more.
Help foster a stronger parish life at St. Mary Magdalen and better engage the New Evangelization. Stop by the Pastoral Leadership booth at
the Time & Talent Festival to download or go to MyParishApp.com.
In gratitude for God’s gifts of time and talent to all
of us, we gratefully acknowledge and salute:
R OSEMERY P ENA
Rosmery serves the children of our Spanishspeaking community. She offers her gifts as a
Liturgia de los Niños and Vacation Bible School
Disciple Volunteer.
With deep gratitude, we thank you, Rosemery!
Praying for Generosity of Time and
Talent: Let us pause and remember that the
Lord God, who made heaven and earth, also
created us in His image and likeness. We are His
people, the work of His hands, and He is our God.
As per His design, the Lord has blessed each and
every one of us with a variety of gifts and talents
to grow His community in which we are part and
to give Him glory and honor. Dear Lord, thank
you for loving me without measure, showing me
how to live and love, and continually inspiring me
to holiness.
In gratitude for the gifts we have received from God,
parishioners and visitors made a joyful return to the
Lord of $66,943.46 on April 2 and 3 for the mission
and ministries of St. Mary Magdalen. Thank you for
helping us carry out Christ’s mission and ministry.
Thanks for Giving First Fruits & Taking a Step!

Those left behind when a family member is
incarcerated are just as affected as the inmates
themselves. “Outmates” need not be isolated by this
experience. Families reaching out to each other can
help ease the pain. We offer each other information

others in this situation, please join us in the Mother
Theresa Room in the St. Mary Magdalen Parish Life

Your baby is quite active now, although the mother
won't feel movement for
another couple of months.
If there was a window to
the womb, you could
watch your spiritually
adopted baby squint,
swallow, and move his/her
tongue. The baby can
make a tight fist if the
palm is touched. All the
oxygen needed by the
baby is obtained through the umbilical cord. Your
baby now weighs one ounce. What a miracle! Thank
you for your daily prayers for your spiritually
adopted baby and his/her family.
WHAT’S NEW:
All are welcome to spend one on one time with
the Eucharistic Lord this Easter season. Prayer
and Adoration in the Divine Mercy Chapel will
continue, 9am- 7pm, weekly, Tuesdays and
Thursdays, and every first Friday of the month.
You are welcome to sign up at the parish website
or just stop in anytime. The Lord is waiting for
you! For more information, contact Dave at

faith in our daily lives. There will be 3 dynamic
speakers, lunch, and opportunities for confession
and adoration all for a suggested donation of
only $20 (what more do you want?!).For

The lay vocation has just as much spiritual value as the other vocations: Marriage, priesthood and religious life. “By reason
of their special motivation it belongs to the laity to seek the Kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and directing
them according to God’s will.” (Catechism, 898). To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln: “God must love lay people, he made so
many of them.” St. Augustine would say it: “God loves each one of us as though there is only one of us to be loved.” The
lay faithful have the same means of holiness as the Pope and Mother Teresa: the gospels, the Mass and sacraments, the
Church, the saints. Lay saints are in the thousands; All Saints Day, November 1, salutes them. (“Catechism:” 897-913). ✥
(“Catecismo:” 897-913).
