First Reconciliation–Saturday, February 27th
Congratulations to the 53 students in the second grade CCD classes
who will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time next
Saturday, February 27th, at 10:30 AM. Following the ceremony, the
banner that they made will be displayed during the month of March.
Practice for all second grade students is scheduled for this Tuesday,
February 23rd, from 4-5:30 PM in the Church.
Confirmation–Tuesday, March 8th
Last week, all our
Confirmation students
made “Gifts of the
Holy Spirit” bracelets
(see photo). The
bracelets will be
blessed and worn by
the students until they
are confirmed by
Bishop David M.
O’Connell on Tuesday,
March 8th, at 4 PM. They are looking forward to receiving the gifts of
the Holy Spirit on their special day. The Confirmation students have
also been busy performing good deeds and service in the community.
They have also been pondering the question, “What makes us
Catholic?”. The students have written letters to Monsignor Flynn,
explaining why they are ready to receive the Sacrament of
Confirmation. Please keep our Confirmandi and our First Holy
Communion students in your prayers during this time of preparation.
Second Sunday of Lent
Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18 And he
brought him outside and said, “Look
toward heaven, and number the stars,
if you are able to number them.”
Psalms 27:1, 7-9, 13-14 Thou hast
said, “Seek ye my face.” My heart
says to thee, “Thy face, LORD, do I
seek.”
Philippians 3:17--4:1 Their end is
destruction, their god is the belly, and
they glory in their shame, with minds
set on earthly things.
Luke 9:28b-36 And a voice came out
of the cloud, saying, "This is my Son,
my Chosen; listen to him!"
Our Lady of the
Immaculate Conception
The pilgrim
Icon of the
Immaculate
Conception
has traveled
throughout
the Diocese
of Trenton
over the past
2 years. Over
20,000
faithful have
viewed it and 30,000 Rosaries
have been reported to have
been offered in Her honor. The
Icon now has been gifted to St.
Mark’s by the Knights of
Columbus.
During this weekend, February
20th-21st, the Icon will be on
display at the side altar. On
Sunday evening after the 5 PM
Spanish Mass, there will be a
ceremony to place the Icon in a
permanent location in our
Church. Come celebrate this
gift to the parish! All are invited
to attend!

captured these star trails. “Time Passes By the Wise Old Oak” using a
30 minutes of exposure time. Available on flickr.com, he combined two
images to create a “surreal juxtaposition between a semi-static,
star-filled sky and the concentric circular motion of the stars.”

40 Days for Life
40 Days for Life
began last week
on Ash Wednesday
with millions of
rosaries being said
outside 1000’s of
abortion centers including locally
Planned Parenthood in
Shrewsbury. It was bitter cold but
we pray that when pregnant
moms drove up and saw us there,
they decided to keep their
precious babies. If you wish to join
us, please contact Lillian Egan at
732-610-7347 or
[email protected].
Members of Mary’s Child Pro-Life
Ministry will be there every Friday.
If every Catholic would pray the
Rosary at an abortion center one
hour a week, these places would
soon go out of business and
millions of babies would be saved.
May God be with us and all our
precious unborn brothers and
sisters!!! Mary Reilly, President,
Mary’s Child Pro-Life Ministry
“Dear Relationship: Let the love we have for God be stronger than the love we have
for each other. Because when the world tries to tear us apart, He will be the One
Who keeps us together.”—Theme for CYO Girls’ and Guys’ Nights 2016
First of all, thank you Drew and Molly for planning such a great
St. Valentine’s celebration for our CYO last Sunday. There were great games
and desserts (thank you, Sophomores!). You came up with such an amazing
theme—the meaning of true love which is sacrificing for others. St. Damien
of Molokai and St. Maximilian Kolbe were held up as great examples of this
goal. Our CYO members sharing true love stories, and especially about the
love and sacrifices of their parents, was truly inspiring.
Secondly, Girls’ Night this Sunday, Feb. 21st, is from 7:30-9 PM. Dinner will
be served. Please RSVP to me if you will be attending.
Finally, we will soon begin rehearsals for the Stations of the Cross which
we will be presenting on Good Friday at 7:30 PM. We still need actors and
readers. Please contact me at 732-685-6011 if you would like to participate.
This is our rehearsal schedule:
Sunday, March 6: 7:30-9 PM
Sunday, March 13, 8:15-9 PM (after stuff the eggs)
Sunday, March 20: 7:30-9 PM. Dress rehearsal with the Spanish Ministry
and Mrs. Cullum, our costume designer/coordinator.
Friday, March 25: 6:30 PM. Final dress rehearsal followed by presenting the
Stations to the Church at 7:30 PM.
Thank you, my CYO angels! Mrs. Reilly
