Biodiversity
Seminar Series
The Biodiversity Seminar Series is pleased to announce the
Peruvian Barcode of Life Network delegation
presenting
The adoption of DNA-based species identification approaches in
Peru
The Peruvian visit is part of Sub-project ENV05-2012 under the auspices of the Canada-Americas TradeRelated Technical Assistance (CATRTA) program. The objectives of this visit are centered on Peru's adoption
of DNA barcoding and the integration of its national Barcode of Life Network (PeBOL - http://pebol.org) with
the International Barcode of Life project (iBOL - http://ibol.org). The aim is to scope out cooperation
opportunities between Canada and Peru in areas of research, regulatory and business applications of DNA
based species identification. It offers an opportunity to discuss the ways Peru's academic, government
institutions and businesses can build partnerships with Canadian counterparts in harmonizing regulatory
frameworks and advancing economic development while addressing the imperative of biodiversity
conservation.
