TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading Ezekiel 17:22-24
Speaking of Israel’s future, Ezekiel pictures God transplanting
a tiny sprig into new ground where it grows into a mighty cedar.
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:6-10
Though we make our journey “by faith and not by sight”, we
talk with confidence.
Gospel: Mark 4:26– 34
Jesus compares the kingdom to a mustard seed that grows
into a mighty tree, but its growth us often as imperceptible as
that of a seed hidden in the ground.

FROM THE OGLE OFFICE
CHANGE OF DATE: The second meeting of the Parish Anniversary Committee will take place at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, June
24 (not Thursday, June 25 as originally planned) due to a conflict with a wedding rehearsal. I hope that any and all parishioners and
especially members of our many parish committees will turn out for this planning event, including: Alumni Committee…
Communications Committee… Ecuadorian Committee … Filipino Committee… Guadalupe Committee… Handicapped Advocate… Renovation Committee… Vocation Committee … Young Adult Committee (AYMCA)…. Welcome Ministry. Any parishioner wishing to help on
a committee may feel free to join us. Many hands make light work!
Deacon Chris Heanue will be ordained to the priesthood of Brooklyn Diocese along with nine other young men at 11 AM on
Saturday, June 27 at St Joseph Co-Cathedral, 856 Pacific Street, Brooklyn. More than half the church will be reserved seating. About 400
seats will be “general admission”, with no guarantee of getting in. OLMC parishioners may instead want to think about instead attending Chris’ First Mass of Thanksgiving at his home parish of St Mary Winfield (Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians in Woodside) on
Sunday June 28 at 10 AM, where there will be ample seating. He will also celebrate a parish Mass the same day at 5 PM at Holy Child
Jesus in Richmond Hill where he serves now as administrator. We look forward to having Father Chris here to celebrate a Family Mass
with us, probably in September. Please pray for him, and for an increase in vocations from our own parish. (We have not had a diocesan seminarian from this parish in over 40 years!) I would also ask your prayers for Monsignor James Hunt, among the last diocesan
priests ordained from here, who is celebrating his 60th ordination anniversary, but is currently seriously ill.
Please remember to observe the feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday, June 12 by Mass, prayers or special devotions. There will be special Mass in Spanish that day at 7:30 PM at St Margaret Mary at 9th street.
And please remember that as we have already announced, the upper church will be closed from August 3 to September 5 to
start the removal and rebuilding of the sanctuary floor. The restoration work will continue through September and October, but weekend Masses will return to the Upper Church once the more disruptive early work has been completed. We thank you once again for
your patience
As you know we have been asking for new ushers and greeters to assist in our Welcome Ministry here. Ushers' duties
are fairly familiar: help people get seated, take up the collection, maintain orderliness in general and be a welcoming presence. Greeters are more oriented toward the details of hospitality, such as: Welcome people with a smile, Be ready to answer informative questions (Where are the rest rooms, bulletins, hymnals, Who is the pastor, What time is the next Mass, When's the next flea market, Do
you have a website, etc.), Be ready to engage people who are disposed to chat so they feel like they are at home with us. Ushers and
greeters of course help each other whn short-handed, but we'd like to have enough at every Mass. Please speak to one of them or a
priest if you would like to help on a scheduled basis.
God love you,
Msgr. Ogle
Msgr. Ogle

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK
114 PRECINCT PRAYER BREAKFAST INVOCATION
By Msgr. Sean G. Ogle, V.F.
O God our Father in heaven and in our midst: We thank
you for putting order in the universe and your natural
law into our hearts. We praise you for the gift of conscience that teaches all people to distinguish right from
wrong and to work for the common good of all, especially the most vulnerable in our midst. We strive by your
grace to create a society whose fabric reflects the peace
and justice of your own eternal nature. Most of all we
beg your continued protection for the valiant men and
women of our own NYPD, and especially here in the 114.
You know those dangers they face for our sake, and the
concern they bear for all peoples under their watch.
Guide them when in difficulties and protect them when
in danger. Help us all who live here to support, encourage and help them in their challenging duties, so that
together we may create a better world here and beyond
our own confines. We ask in prayer now and forever.
Amen.

June 13 – Feast of St. Anthony of Padua
Saint Anthony, perfect imitator of Jesus, who received from
God the special power of restoring lost things, grant that I may
find (mention your petition) which has been lost. As least restore to me peace and tranquility of mind, the loss of which
has afflicted me even more than my material loss.To this favor
I ask another of you: that I may always remain in possession of
the true good that is God. Let me
rather lose all things than lose
God, my supreme good. Let me
never suffer the loss of my greatest treasure, eternal life with God.
Amen.
Sant’Antonio
Amen.

GREAT FILIPINO COMPOSERS SERIES
Many of our parishioners have been entranced by the music of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Choir of the Catholic Fellowship of Young
Adults every first Sunday of the month Sunday night Mass for the last three years. Now In partnership with Dr. Jeanne Damian and
Mr. Jose Ramos, the San Lorenzo Ruiz Choir of New York will be presenting the GREAT FILIPINO COMPOSERS SERIES concert
on June 22 (Monday), 8:00pm, at the Merkin Concert Hall on 129 West 67th Street, New York NY 10036. Projected as an annual
undertaking, it will debut this year by presenting the life and works of Maestro Nicanor Abelardo as narrated and performed by
professional Philippine-American classical music artists.
The GREAT FILIPINO COMPOSERS SERIES was conceptualized to enhance the meaningful celebration of Philippine Independence
Day in New York City. By showcasing the country’s rich culture in the field of music, it aims to provide a tangible testimony to the
ingenuity of the Filipino people. It also hopes to:
1) Expand the musical identity of a country that is known all over the world for its outstanding singers and musicians;
2) Raise awareness of Philippine compositions; and,
3) Generate interest in including Philippine compositions in the general performance repertoire here in the United States.
The following tickets are available for the show:
Premium (Orchestra Prime Seating) - $100
Standard (Orchestra Seating) - $55
Basic (Balcony Seating) - $45
For reservations, you may get in touch with Rogelio Penaverde Jr. at [email protected] or 917-701-4775. For further details, please check the GREAT FILIPINO COMPOSERS SERIES Facebook Page.
