The following information is considered essential for successful completion of a study abroad or
exchange program. This form must be read and completed fully and submitted to
[email protected] with all other required application documents by the appropriate deadline. / La
siguiente información se considera esencial para la finalización de un estudio en el extranjero o programa de
intercambio. Este formulario debe ser leído, llenado y enviado con el resto de documentos requeridos dentro del
plazo correspondiente a [email protected].
Visa
All international students enter the country with a tourist visa (students will no longer have to ask for a
student visa at Peruvian consulates). This visa is stamped in the student’s passport at the airport.
Depending on how many days the tourist visa allows them to stay in Perú, students can change their
visa status at the Migrations Office in Lima. Exception: Students from Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador,
Honduras, Nicaragua, Panamá, China, Turkey and Africa need to ask for a tourist visa in any Peruvian
consulate.
Los estudiantes recibirán una visa de turista al ingresar al país (ya no deben solicitar la visa de estudiante en los
consulados peruanos). Esta visa es sellada en el pasaporte del estudiante en el aeropuerto. Dependiendo de
cuantos días se le permita la estadía en Perú, los estudiantes pueden cambiar su estatus migratorio en Lima.
Excepción: Ciudadanos de Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panamá, China, Turquía y Africa
deben solicitar una visa de turista en los consulados peruanos correspondientes.
Language of instruction / Idioma de enseñanza
Students must have sufficient Spanish ability to meet the demands of classroom instruction and written
assignments. Although PUCP does not ask for a Spanish certificate we strongly recommend students to
have a level of proficiency referred to level B2 (CEFR).
Los estudiantes deben tener suficiente dominio del español para satisfacer las demandas de las clases y trabajos
escritos. Si bien la PUCP no solicita un certificado de español, recomendamos a los estudiantes que tengan un
grado de suficiencia equivalente al nivel B2 (CEFR).
Grading system and credits / Sistema de evaluación y créditos
PUCP grades academic performance with a grade system from zero (0) to twenty (20), eleven (11) is
the minimum pass mark. Students will need to check with their home Universities how many credits
they can take during their time at PUCP. Some students are expected to follow a full-time load. Each
course has a value expressed in credits. One PUCP credit is equivalent to one hour of taught classes a
week throughout the semester, or at least two hours a week of practical classes. Each semester has 17
weeks of classes. Courses could have from 2 to 5 credits depending on the difficulty level, from low to
high. Take on consideration that a PUCP credit is different from an ECTS credit. The final certificate in
Spanish will show the courses with the number of PUCP credits.
La PUCP evalúa el desempeño académico con un sistema de calificación desde cero (0) hasta veinte (20), siendo
once (11) la mínima nota para aprobar un curso. En coordinación con sus universidades de origen, los alumnos
deben conocer cuántos créditos se les permite convalidar en la PUCP. Cada curso tiene un valor expresado en
créditos, para ser considerados estudiantes a tiempo completo necesitan matricularse en doce (12) créditos como
mínimo. Un crédito PUCP es equivalente a una hora de clase enseñada semanalmente, o dos horas semanales de
clases prácticas. Cada semestre tiene 17 semanas de clases. Los cursos pueden valer entre 2 y 5 créditos
dependiendo del nivel de dificultad. Tomar en consideración que un crédito de la PUCP es distinto a un crédito
ECTS. El certificado de notas en español muestra los cursos matriculados con sus respectivos créditos PUCP.
Registration process / Proceso de matrícula
Students will have one week to attend different classes before they select their final schedule. After
this date, students are not allowed to make any changes to their registration. They may drop classes
any time up to the final deadline (4 weeks after the beginning of classes). Exchange students register
two weeks after peruvian regular students. Enrollment by internet is not available for exchange
students. Places will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Los estudiantes tendrán una semana para asistir a las diferentes clases y decidir su matrícula final. Tras ese
momento ya no podrán hacer cambios en sus horarios. Los alumnos pueden anular cursos antes del plazo
correspondiente (4 semanas después del inicio de clases). Los estudiantes de intercambio se matriculan dos
semanas después de los estudiantes peruanos regulares. La matrícula por internet no existe para estudiantes de
intercambio. Las vacantes serán dispuestas según orden de llegada.
Vacancy of courses / Disponibilidad de cursos
Most courses would be made available to international students subject to vacancy. Students are not
guaranteed a place on the course of their choice, while we will do our best to do so this is not always
possible. If we are unable to offer a place on some course, we suggest students have other options.
Los cursos podrían abrirse a estudiantes de intercambio si hay vacante. No podemos garantizar una vacante en el
curso de su elección pero haremos lo posible por hacerlo aunque esto no siempre pueda lograrse. Si no podemos
encontrar una vacante en un curso sugerimos que los estudiantes tengan otras opciones.
International medical insurance / Seguro médico internacional
All international students must purchase an international medical insurance before coming to PUCP and
send a copy to our office. Students without this document will not be able to register in courses.
Foreigners are not able to apply for a peruvian health insurance. Should students require medical
treatment, they have to pay for services and then file a claim for reimbursement from the insurance
carrier. Students may also want to consider purchasing supplemental insurance to reimburse for theft
or loss (personal property insurance), lost expenses due to travel cancellations (travelers insurance) or
enrollment in a travel assistance plan.
Es obligatorio que todos los estudiantes de intercambio compren un seguro médico internacional antes de venir a
la PUCP y envíen la copia a nuestra oficina. Quienes no cuenten con este documento no podrán matricularse en los
cursos. Los extranjeros no son elegibles para comprar un seguro peruano. Los estudiantes son responsables de
verificar las coberturas tanto para accidentes como para enfermedades. Si los estudiantes requieren atención
médica tienen que pagar por los servicios y luego presentar un reclamo antes sus compañías de seguros para el
reembolso correspondiente. Los estudiantes también pueden considerar adquirir seguros adicionales por robo o
pérdida (seguros de propiedad), dinero perdido por cancelaciones en vuelos (seguro para viajes) o póliza de
asistencia de viaje.

Spanish Language and Peruvian Studies - Immersion Program
The program offers formal instruction in Spanish language at two levels: Intermediate and Advanced. At each
level, courses of Spanish Grammar and Spanish Language Conversation are taught. Students have the option
to attend either one or two of the courses depending on their communicational needs. Additionally, the program
offers an elective Introductory Course on different aspects of Peruvian Culture, such as social reality, history,
geography, arts and language. In order to create a total learning environment, the course also provides a
supporting virtual platform which students can access at any time to improve their language skills.
Students finishing the Spanish Course will reach the international standards of language aptitude evaluation
ACTFL.

PUCP does not have a student residence in campus but we do have a list of recommended places we
can email you. The prices vary between US$ 250-350 dollars per month depending on the services
they offer (kitchen, laundry, individual room, internet, etc.).
La PUCP no tiene residencies estudiantiles en el campus pero si contamos con una lista de opciones que podemos
enviarte. Los precios varían entre US$ 250-350 dólares al mes dependiendo de los servicios ofrecidos (cocina,
lavandería, habitación personal, internet, etc.).

We can send you some family options so you contact them directly. The approximate cost is US$ 370420 dollars per month, students should ask about the internet services and laundry before arriving.
