Año 2015, JULIO
Training
Because safety is vital to Ameyalli School, all personnel was trained again in first aids and
procedures to follow in an emergency.
All teachers in Kindergarten and Primary took a Teaching and learning workshop required by IBO.
Luz Islas has achieved a Pedagogical level in Primary education.
María Antonieta Rodríguez took the Comprehensive Early Literacy Learning Course.
Academic and Technology
Incorporating Khan Academy to the school’s Mathematics Curriculum has led to different
distinctions inside and outside the school.
Pre-first and Primary got outstanding outcome in oral and written output in English, resulting
from the use of the Making Meaning and Being a Writer programs.
The reading programs implemented three years ago in primary, assisted by Miss Lorena from the
CIA have flourished, as the majority of students evidenced an improvement in their reading
comprehension.
Like every year, Primary and High School students sat the PET and FCE examinations from Cambridge University with great confidence and results.
Escuela Ameyalli was again chosen for the pilot application of the Toefl Primary examination
which becomes a parameter of the English level of children in Mexico.
The cultural journey focused differently, this time it held various conferences given by the
students, and the science fair and the debates were held in the same event.
As part of her tutorship, Miss Graciela Rojina organized the second grade Jr. High School students
to carry out different activities such as the visit to an orphanage, the thanksgiving lunch and the
reading of thankful letters to their parents.
The Heritage subject has been a great success, as it has allowed students to discover their roots
and Mexico City personally.
This year, the fourth grade High School students worked on different proposals and projects in the
design technology and language acquisition class, in order to improve their school community.
Congratulations to the sixth grade high school students who have successfully enrolled in their
favorite universities, we wish them a brilliant future.
Awards
We proudly congratulate Luis Felipe Olvera, who was awarded a silver medal in the National
Mathematics Olimpic Preselection, becoming a representative of the Federal District within the first
six places.
This year, Valeria Tapia, Pamela Murrieta, Hermann Borda and Francisco Araujo from 5th grade in
Primary were the participants in the annual debate from the Olinca School, where they were
awarded the prize to the best team in their round. On the other hand, Valeria Tapia got the prize for
best debater. An innovation was the coaching of the 6th grade high school students which resulted
in incredible exchange of experiences.
With great demonstration of conflict resolution, communication skills and values such as, empathy,
respect and responsibility the 6th grade High School students organized the third Ameyalli Model
United Nations (AMEMUN). Apart from this local event, students from third grade to sixth grade
High School participated in two other conferences: Mexico City International Model UN (MIMUN)
and Modelo de Naciones Unidas del Sistema Incorporado UNAM (SIMUN).
Professionals
High School teachers attended different updating workshops given by the DGIRE, the IB and by
those Universities within our agreement.
Cultural
This year, we welcomed Nell Phoenix, a storyteller from the UK, who narrated scary, folk and
fairy tales.
Talk and signing of books by writer Elman Trevizo at Kindergarten, presenting the book “Marcelo and the painter apprentice”
Presentation of books and plays for primary “Frida for you” and “A shout in the darkness and
another horror tale” from the “Yo sí leo” Editorial house.
This year 6th grade primary and secondary students travelled to London, England in a cultural
and academic exchange, living an experience full of learning and growth.
High School sixth grade students travelled to Mahahual city in Quintana Roo State as part of
their biology subject, and witnessed and are now aware of on how global problems affect at
local level.

Kindergarten and primary had their second assessment visit of the Primary School Program, wherein
congratulations were granted and some areas of opportunity that were foreseen are already been
worked on.
For their PYP exhibition, 6th Graders from Primary have been doing an arduous research during the
school year on the transdisciplinary topic “How the world works”, with the central idea: “Humans use
science to develop different technologies that transform the way they live”.
This year, samples for the MYP assessment follow-up were sent with excellent outcome, waiting for
the assessment visit during the second semester of the 2015-2016 school year.
