From the Desk of Fr. John Del Escritorio de Padre Juan
When I asked for possible themes for an adult education opportunity, some of you focused on
a presentation about the Church’s moral teaching. So, Fr. Dennis Lyle, my august classmate,
who has a doctorate in moral theology, will be coming for a presentation on Tuesday, July 28
at 7:00pm. He will offer some basics on the Church’s moral teaching and then will lead a
discussion about the moral issues of our day. It should be interesting. I hope you can make
it.
In just two weeks, the Mass schedule has had some unexpected blessings. A few people
have told me how the 10:00 Mass seems “revitalized” because of the church being fuller and the
choir being stronger. A couple people mentioned how much they like the music at the 8:00. Thanks for
your comments and for your kindness.
I am in the process of reading Pope Francis’ document on the environment, Laudato, Sii. It is very
interesting (and dense) to read. I am thinking it might be a good topic for an adult education presentation.
I will give more details later after I finish it. Sadly, many in the United States have politicized the climate
change issue and so many do not want to talk about it. I am hoping we can have an objective conversation
about the document without politics entering the discussion.
Sign up the kids and grandkids for our Vacation Bible School, starting July 27. It is a great event for the
kids. Call or visit the office for more information.
Religious education registration is open. We want to pass on our faith to the next generation and religious
education at CHS is the best way to do that. You may obtain a registration packet at the back of the church
Cuando pregunte de posibles temas para tener una clase de educación para adultos, algunos de ustedes
se enfocaron en la enseñanza moral de la Iglesia. El Padre Dennis Lyle, mi compañero de escuela, quien
tiene un doctorado en teología, dará una presentación el martes, 28 de julio a las 7:00 p.m. El ofrecerá

Estoy leyendo el escrito del Papa Francisco acerca del medio ambiente, Laudato, Sii. Es muy interesante
(y denso) de leer. Estaba pensando que podría ser un buen tema para una presentación de educación
para adultos. Les daré mas detalles acerca de este escrito cuando termine de leerlo. Tristemente, una
gran parte de Estados Unidos han politizado el tema del cambio de clima y mucha gente no quiere hablar
acerca de este tema. Espero que podamos tener una conversación objetiva acerca del documento sin
dejar que la polícia influya nuestra discusión.
Registren a sus hijos y nietos en nuetro programa de Vacaciones de Biblia para Niños que empieza el 27
de julio. Es un gran programa para niños. Por favor llámenos o visitenos en la oficina para recibir más
información o registrarse.

El programa de Educación Religiosa esta ya abierto. Deseamos pasar nuestra fé a la próxima generación
y el programa de Educación Religiosa en CHS es la mejor manera de hacerlo. Pueden obtener paquetes
