Dear Friends in the Lord:
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development
(CCHD) has come to the aid of communities nationwide for
more than 40 years in an effort to eradicate poverty.
During World Youth Day, July 25, 2013, Pope Francis told
us to “never tire of working for a more just world, marked
by greater solidarity. “ CCHD puts these words into action
by funding housing, education, and the development of
job opportunities.
Projects supported by CCHD move beyond providing
basic human needs. They work to build healthy and
sustainable futures for communities. For example, ten
years ago, Boston’s Haley House began offering bakery
training at the request of a few regular guests at the soup
kitchen. Experiencing a tremendous demand, Haley House
created a six-month course that includes customer
relations and basic business principles. Haley House
currently has 70 trainees who have completed the
program and are now employed in the Boston area. It also
runs cooking classes for at-risk teens and a transitional
employment program that provides holistic, individual
support to men and women re-entering the community
after incarceration. Haley House is but a snap shot of the
works of CCHD that seeks to create a strong local
economy by building human relationships and by carrying
on Christ’s mission “to bring glad tidings to the poor…
liberty to captives… sight to the blind, to let the oppressed
go free”[Lk 4:18].
This weekend’s special collection is the primary
source of funding for CCHD’s anti-poverty grants and
education programs. Collection funds offer new hope each
year to those living in poverty throughout the United
States. And, 25 percent of the collection stays right here in
our archdiocese to address poverty in our communities
and defend the dignity of our neighbors.
As we express our gratitude to the Lord during the
Thanksgiving holiday for all His blessings bestowed upon
us, let’s think of those less fortunate than ourselves.
Please be as generous as you can be in helping CCH
defend human dignity by bringing Christian charity to
those most in need.

MAKING ALL THINGS NEW
Our Parish Pastoral Council has formed a
committee to begin work on the merger between St.
Peter Parish and St. Mary Parish. St. Mary Parish is
forming a committee so that our parishes can work
together in the weeks and months ahead as our two
parishes become one. During this time please keep the
work of these committees in your prayers. They will be
reaching out to all of us to join with them in fostering the
growth of our parishes into a new community of faith
strengthened by our history and facing the future with
confidence and joy. Throughout the Archdiocese of New
York there at 112 parishes that are involved in the
merging process that will result in 55 parishes. Let us
pray for all of these parishes that God bring new life and
new growth for them.
Queridos Amigos en el Señor:
La Campana Católica del Desarrollo Humano (CCDH)
ha asistido por más de 40 años a comunidades del mundo
entero en un esfuerzo para erradicar la pobreza. Durante
el Día Mundial de la Juventud, en julio del 2013, el Papa
Francisco nos dijo: “nunca se cansen de trabajar por un
mundo más justo, marcado por una solidaridad. La CCDH
pone estas palabras en acción con fondos para vivienda,
educación, y desarrollo para mejores oportunidades de
empleos.
Los proyectos apoyados por la CCDH, van más allá
de las necesidades básicas. Ellos trabajan educando
futura comunidades saludables y sostenibles. Por
ejemplo, diez años atrás, la Casa Haley, en Boston,
comenzó un entrenamiento de pastelería por la petición de
algunos que asistían al Soup Kitchen. Experimentando
una gran demanda, la Casa Haley creo clases por seis
meses incluyendo relaciones públicas y principios
básicos del negocio. La Casa Haley tiene ahora 70
entrenadores que han completado el programa y están
empleados en el área de Boston. También dan clases de
cocina a adolescentes que corren riesgo y un programa
de trabajo integral transitorio que proporciona apoyo
individual a hombres y mujeres que regresan a la
comunidad después de haber sido encarcelados. La Casa
Haley es una fotografía de los trabajos que la Campana
Católica del Desarrollo Humano (CCDH) que busca crear
para lograr una economía local y fuerte educando
relaciones humanas y llevando la misión de Cristo
“trayendo buenas noticias a los pobres”… librando a los
cautivos… dando vista a los ciegos, y libertando a los
oprimidos. [Lc4:18].
La colecta especial de este fin de semana es la
principal fuente de fondos de la CCDH en la lucha contra
la financiación de los programas de educación y
antipobreza. Los fondos colectados ofrecen nueva
esperanza cada ano a personas viviendo en pobreza pro
todos los Estados Unidos. Y el 25 por ciento de la colecta
se queda aquí en la arquidiócesis, para lidiar con la
pobreza en comunidades y la defensa de la dignidad de
nuestros vecinos.
Mientras expresamos nuestra gratitud al Señor
durante el Día de Acción de Gracias por todas Sus
bendiciones hacia nosotros, pensemos en aquellos que
son menos afortunados que nosotros.
Por favor sea lo más generoso posible ayudando a
la CCDH a defender la dignidad humana llevando caridad
cristiana a aquellos más necesitados.

HACIENDO TODAS LAS COSAS NUEVAS
Nuestro Consejo Pastoral Parroquial formo un comité para
empezar a trabajar con la integración de las parroquias San
Pedro y Santa María. La Parroquia Santa María está formando
un comité para que nuestras parroquias puedan trabajar juntas
en las próximas semanas y meses, nuestras dos parroquias se
han convertido en una sola parroquia. Durante este tiempo les
pedimos que tenga el trabajo de estos comités en sus
oraciones. Ellos nos contactaran para que nos unamos a ellos
y ayudemos al crecimiento de nuestras parroquias en una
nueva comunidad de fe fortalecida por nuestra historia y
enfrontar el futuro con confianza y alegría. A través de la
Archidiócesis de Nueva York, con 112 parroquias que están
involucradas en el proceso de combinación y como resultado
quedaran 55 parroquias. Oremos por todas estas parroquias que Dios
traiga nueva vida y un nuevo crecimiento para ellas.

There was a parent-student Confirmation meeting and two
Communion meetings this past month of October. There was dated
information handed out. Please contact our office for more information.

Our Christmas Play will be on Saturday, December 20 , 2014.
Even though our play is still two months away, we need to get ready
and plan now. If you did not come to the meetings, you still have a
chance to participate. All children are invited. Come and be one of the
actors, singers, musicians, and crew or production members. Parents
are invited, as well. Please go to the religious education program for
more information.
Our Food Drive has started. The children will be collecting specific
food items for our Food Pantry. If you would like to participate as a
family, you can come to our office to obtain a list of items needed.
We will have a Christmas Boutique/Bake sale set up in the
entrance to the church sometime in December. The children and their
parents will be making crafts and baked goods as a fund raiser for our
religious education Program. Keep your eyes open for upcoming
details in the following week. Please continue praying for our students
NEW PEACE AND JOY CONCERT AND RAFFLE
On Friday, December 5th, we will celebrate our Annual
Peace and Joy Concert. FOR THE FIRST TIME OUR
CONCERT WILL FEATURE OUR OWN ST. PETER CHURCH
MUSIC MINISTRIES. Our Sunday Masses are blessed by the
service of a variety of music ministries. The members of these
ministries will present a musical program featuring Advent,
Christmas and classical songs and music. The concert will
begin in our church at 7:30PM. After the concert we will gather
in the school gym for the drawing in our Peace and Joy raffle
and some dessert and coffee. Please mark the date on your
calendar and join us for this renewed parish tradition!
THANKSGIVING TURKEY DONATIONS
On Saturday, November 22nd, our Food Pantry will be
giving out bags of food for Thanksgiving. We welcome
donations of turkeys, but our storage space for them is limited.
If you plan to donate a frozen turkey please call our rectory
office before you bring it in order to make sure that we have
space to store it in our freezer. St. Peter's parishioners, who
qualify at Shop Rite for a free turkey ($400.00 in purchases),
should get the turkey and bring it to the register. The cashier
will process the transaction and give the parishioner a receipt
indicating that they received a free turkey. The parishioner
should then take the turkey along with their receipt and bring it
to the courtesy counter. ShopRite will store the turkeys for
pickup by food pantry staff early Saturday morning on
11/22/13. Thank you for your generous support.
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE
Our Blessed Mother is celebrated under this title as the

Patroness of Puerto Rico. November 19 is the date of this
feast; this is the same date on which Puerto Rico was
discovered in 1493 by Christopher Columbus on his second
voyage. The date for the feast was set by Pope Paul VI in
1969, almost five centuries after this expedition of Columbus.

Prior to this the feast had been observed on January 2 . In
the image of “La Providencia” the infant Jesus sleeps
peacefully on the lap of Mary: our Lord experienced the
providence and care of our Blessed Mother years before he
proclaimed the loving providence of God in his ministry. Our
parishioners who were born in Puerto Rico or who are
descended from Puerto Rican parents celebrate this patronal
feast at the 12:45PM Mass this Sunday, November 16th. They
will continue the celebration with a party in the school

Nuestras Misas Dominicales son bendecidas por el servicio de
la variedad de nuestros ministerios musicales. Los miembros

presentar un programa musical sobre Adviento, Navidad y
cantos y música clásica. El concierto comenzara a las 7:30PM,
en la iglesia. Después del concierto nos reuniremos en el
gimnasio de la escuela para la Rifa de Paz y Alegría y para
postres y café. Favor de marcar sus calendarios y únase a
nosotros en esta renovada tradición parroquial.
DONACIONES DE PAVOS PARA EL DÍA DE ACCIÓN DE
GRACIAS
El sábado 22º de noviembre, nuestra Despensa de Alimentos
estará distribuyendo fundas de comida para el Día de Acción de
Gracias. Estaremos muy agradecidos de las donaciones de pavos,
pero el espacio con que contamos para guardarlos es limitado. Si está
planeando donar un pavo congelado, favor de llamar a la oficina de la
rectoría antes de traerlo, para así asegurarnos, que tendremos el
espacio para guardarlo en el congelador. Los feligreses que califican
para recibir un pavo gratis de Shop Rite ($400.00 en compras), deben
buscar su pavo y llevarlo a la registradora. La registradora procesará
la transación y dará al feligrés un recibo indicando que recibió un pavo
gratis. El feligrés deberá tomar el pavo, junto al recibo que le han
dado, y llevarlo al mostrador de cortesía. Shop Rite guardara los
pavos para ser recogidos por la Despensa de Alimentos, el sábado
temprano en la mañana, del 23 de noviembre. Gracias por su apoyo
generoso.
FIESTA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA PROVIDENCIA
Nuestra Santísima Madre es celebrada bajo este título como la
Patrona de Puerto Rico. El 19 de Noviembre es el día de su festividad.
Esta es también la fecha en la cual fue descubierta Puerto Rico por
Cristóbal Colon, en el 1493, el su segundo viaje. La fecha de esta
celebración fue fijada por el Papa Paulo VI en el 1969, casi cinco
siglos después de la expedición de Cristóbal Colon. Antes de tal
acontecer dicha fiesta era observada el 2 de enero. En la imagen de
“La Providencia”, el infante Jesús duerme en paz en las piernas de
María: Nuestro Señor experimentó la providencia y cuidado de nuestra
Santísima Madre, años antes de proclamar la providencia amorosa de
Dios en su ministerio. Nuestros feligreses que nacieron en Puerto
Rico, o que descienden de padres puertorriqueños, celebran esta
fiesta patronal en la Misa de las 12:45PM, este domingo, día 16º de
Noviembre. Ellos van a presentar una fiesta en el gimnasio de la
escuela, después de la Misa. Todos los feligreses están invitados.
