All Souls Day
THE TEMPLE AND WORSHIP
In all of today’s readings, the temple is prominently mentioned. Ezekiel speaks of streams of
living water flowing out from the temple, watering the desert, bringing life to all living things,
offering fresh healing to God’s people.
Paul reminds the Corinthians that their faith
rests upon the firmest of foundations, Christ himself. More than that, Paul reveals that those who
follow Christ are themselves temples, temples of
the Holy Spirit; that is, God dwells not only with
them, but in them.
For the Jews of Jesus’ time, the temple had
come to be identified with the presence of God
and the only place where authentic worship of
God took place. Jesus had a different perception.
Jesus identified himself not with the temple, but
as the temple. In so doing, Jesus indicated a dramatic shift in what it means to worship God, to
be in God’s presence. No longer was a place to
be the focus of prayer. Instead, a person, the person of Jesus Christ, becomes the center of our
worship.

Parish Ministries
As the Respect month of
October comes to a close,
we are so grateful for all
the blessings our God has
given each of us as His
"Masterpieces of creation."
Please continue to pray for the new parents of our
parish, the 546 unborn children saved from abortion during the international 40 days for life Fall
campaign, and our country; to be governed with
laws that protect our religious freedoms. Pope
Francis said it well with his Day for life greeting,
"Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick,
the old the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces
of God's creation, made in his own image, destined
to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect."We will continue peacefully
standing vigil at " A Womans Choice of Jacksonville" 4131 University Blvd. 32216 every 2nd
Wednesday 10-11am. A carpool meets at 9:15am
in the church parking lot. Consider joining us. Call
Lane @ 823-8887 for more info. Mark your calendars. St. Gerard lunch and Fashion Show Sat.
