INTERAGENCY COORDINATING COUNCIL MEETING
The Wisconsin Birth to 3 Program Interagency
Coordinating Council (ICC) will be meeting:
9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Friday, May 1st
at the Circles of Life Conference.
The mission of the Birth to 3 Program ICC is to advise
and assist the Wisconsin Department of Health Services
with implementation of an effective early intervention
system. The ICC membership is a combination of
governor-appointed parents and professionals. Every
year, an ICC meeting is held at the Circles of Life
Conference (COL) as an opportunity to outreach with
parents and professionals. Please consider attending the
ICC meeting while at the COL Conference and hear about
the work of the ICC. Throughout the year, the ICC
maintains an ongoing forum for communication with
stakeholders. There is time reserved at the beginning of
every ICC meeting for public input. For more information

A Gathering of Youth: A Conference Program Series
designed for youth. It is a hands-on training exercise in
independence, transitioning, decision making, and self
advocacy for those over the age of 13. It is a fun learning
experience focusing on goals, resources, jobs, social
skills and more! See page 6 of this brochure for
information on how to get a confirmation number and sign
up. Registration is due by April 10, 2015.
Sibshops: Something special for brothers and sisters
ages 6-17 who have siblings with special needs.
Registration is limited to 35 siblings, and a confirmation
number is required before registering for this program.

Scholarships: Scholarship applications will be available
beginning February 2, 2015. To obtain scholarship

scholarship applications must be submitted as instructed
no later than March 20, 2015.

RESPITE
On-site respite care is available through Mid-State
Independent Living Consultants (MILC) at no cost to
families during conference sessions. Registration is
limited to 15 children to assure safety and care of children
requiring respite services; we will not have room for
siblings who do not have disabilities.
To register for respite, call (608) 267-7844. The deadline
for respite registration is 4:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 2015.
Walk-ins will not be accepted.
NOTE: Any medications must be administered to children
before the conference, during lunch, and after workshops
that day; MILC staff will not be responsible for medication
storage or administration. Please do not bring children
who are ill with a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or upper
respiratory illnesses.

provider, understanding Section 504 is important. This
presentation is focused on the role of schools in ensuring
that children with disabilities have equal access to

reasons children struggle to read, and there are certainly
ways to overcome those challenges. Learn FUN teaching

college, and employment outcomes for these students are

Wisconsin for students in transition and for adult learners

Community Living - Explore what community living has
to offer for students with developmental and intellectual

importance of sleep in childhood and the impact of sleep
deprivation on children. Learn to identify causes of sleep

GATHERING OF YOUTH
SIBSHOPS
What Is It?
Gathering of Youth (GOY) is a hands-on conference
planned by, and for, youth with disabilities. It is a program
open to high school-aged youth to advance their
independent thinking, decision making, and self advocacy
skills as they transition into independent life after high
school. It’s about transition as well as setting, striving and
reaching goals, and it all occurs in a fun environment.
What Is It?
Something special for brothers and sisters ages 6-17 who
are siblings of people with special needs; registration is
limited to 35 youth.
Who Can Attend?
High school aged youth with disabilities. Registration is
limited to 22 youth on a first come, first served basis.
Priority will be given to first time participants attending
GOY. Those who have participated two or more times are
considered only if space is available and will be put on a
waiting list and called on a first come, first served basis.
How to Register for Sibshop
1. Contact WisconSibs at (920) 968-1742 or Email
[email protected]. Each youth attending
Sibshops will be assigned a confirmation number.
2. Complete the Circles of Life Registration for all
family members. Be sure to check the box for
Sibshops and include your confirmation number.
Youth needing one-to-one personal care or other
assistance to participate must bring their own attendant
(but no parents!). If you need ideas on how to find
someone, contact Bob Barbian (see number below).
Requirements
 Parents are required to drop off and pick up youth both
days and accompany them to lunch.
 Sibshops participants are expected to attend both days
of Sibshops. Please bring swimwear.
 Be sure to check "both days" on the conference
registration form and include full payment according to
the pricing chart on the registration form.
 Parents, please be sure to bring youth to Sibshops 15
minutes before the conference schedule begins.
 An information sheet and waiver form must be
reviewed and signed by a parent before each youth will
be permitted to stay at the Sibshops.

meet as a group when the conference schedule begins,
participate in teen activities and discussion, attend
selected COL conference sessions, and meet as a group
at the end of each day. Leadership and advocacy will be
emphasized. Same requirements apply as all other
Sibshop participants.

Please Keep Your Children Safe
CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES.
The conference does not provide childcare. Families may
bring a friend, relative or provider to assist them with
childcare in the hotel room. Your childcare provider may
join you for meals at no additional cost (but must be
noted on the registration form). Please register your child
and provider for meals on the registration form.
Note: There is NO lifeguard on duty at the pool.
