The Social Entrepreneurship
Academy
The Social Entrepreneurship Academy at MDC’s
InterAmerican campus is offering a number of
sensational new classes aimed at individuals interested in the trending areas of green and socially responsible business and lifestyles.
We offer core classes as well as classes specific to
certain fields. Additionally, participants in the institute may be eligible for internships, networking
opportunities and hands-on learning endeavors
with local experts and will have access to a targeted speaker series. For additional information,

Message from the
School Director
Change is on the Horizon
Part of the mission of the School of Continuing Education and Professional Development is to bring a wide
variety of learning opportunities to the people in our community. We offer our non-traditional programming
to non-traditional students who often take their courses during “off-times,” in different locations and many
of them in an online environment. Additionally many of our students access information on their computers,
tablets and with their mobile devices, so we need to be able to be responsive to changes and new demands
for how we present our information to the community.
For quite some time now we have been offering what has become known as our tabloid. This printed
marketing information guide has been available to the community in various forms over the years, from
a traditional newsprint format that was printed on a rather large piece of paper and folded into a more
manageable size, to a style similar to the sales fliers you get from your local grocer to the more recent
magazine style offering we have been producing. The format utilized for the current printed material is not
changing and will still be available in an electronic format. There will also be a PDF format available on our
websites, both the main School of Continuing Education and Professional Development website, as well as,
the respective campus Continuing Education sites. You will be able to flip through the pages electronically,
just like you do now by hand, which many of you are accustomed to doing already with your electronic
magazine and newspaper subscriptions.
As for the printed offering of Continuing Education and Professional Development programming, we will be
offering a limited print version of an all-encompassing catalog style booklet that will have the look and feel
of a traditional catalog. The advantage to this change is that it will have all the offerings within the school in
one place, at one time instead of having 4-6 different versions sent out during the year. This catalog will be
mailed directly to those households who received the former tabloid, will be of high quality and contain all
contact, course and other information you would need, so you will want to hold onto it!

So as we bring you the tabloid for one final time (in print), please take a close look at our offerings (let us
know if there is something you would like to see that we do not have listed) and be on the lookout for our
electronic tabloid (already available on the websites), some new marketing materials for our new and key
programs (post cards, direct fliers email blasts) and the new catalog coming for the spring, 2014 term!

CREDENTIAL (FCCPC) PARA EDAD
PREESCOLAR
El programa del FCCPC está diseñado para que el estudiante obtenga la equivalencia al asociado en educación
infantil. El curso está basado y es equivalente al programa
de CDA. Los estudiantes tendrán que completar 120
horas de instrucción (2 cursos de 60 horas), exámenes,
tareas, caja de recursos, 480 horas de observación y experiencia laboral y completar la evaluación final para que
el Estado de la Florida le otorgue el Certificado Profesional del Cuidado Infantil de la Florida. Antes de empezar el curso se requiere: 1) 45 horas de certificaciones de
cuidado infantil; 2) primeros auxilios y rescate (CPR/First
Aid); y 3) certificación de secundaria aceptada por Miami
Dade College. Estudiantes que faltan horas académicas
del programa tendrán que asistir a una clase con costo
adicional para recuperar las horas.

Instructors will discuss materials and textbooks during the first
class and these are available at the bookstore on each campus.
For short workshops, students should purchase books before
the first class.

If your class meets on one or two days, or over a single weekend, you must request a refund no later than the close of business on the day before the course begins. Otherwise, you must
request your refund no later than the close of business the day
before the second class session. Use the Web at www.mdc.edu/
ce, call us or come in to the closest Continuing Education & Professional Development office. If we cancel your course for any
reason, you will receive a complete refund.
Note: If you paid your tuition by credit or debit card, your
refund will be processed back to that card if that card is still
