TODAY 2ND COLLECTION FOR
ST. JOACHIM SCHOOL
NEXT WEEK 2ND COLLECTION FOR
OUR FAITH, OUR FAMILY, OUR FUTURE
PASTOR’S CORNER
Long live St. Joachim Catholic School! The greatest
treasure that Catholic mothers and fathers can nurture in
their children is the fullness of the Catholic Faith. This
Faith is a Gift of Eternal Life in the Most Holy Trinity,
offered to every human being and definitively received
through the Sacrament of Baptism. The Faith starts as a
small seed and then grows, whether in child or adult.
The ongoing free responses of the “child of God” are, of
course, critical, since LOVE in TRUTH is the essence of
the Gift of Faith that is meant to grow. The quality and
intensity of Faith, Hope and Love in the immediate family and parish community is also critical. Since “Faith
comes through hearing” (Romans 10:17), SHARED
FAITH is what nurtures growth in personal faith. The
natural family holds pride of place in God’s plan for the
“making of disciples” through the sharing of faith
among spouses, with children, among siblings and with
the extended natural family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. The larger parish family is a support
for this “domestic church.” We have many (more than
60) ministries in our parish that are supportive of parents
and god-parents in their solemn responsibility to educate
their children in the fullness of the Catholic Faith. This
week we express our gratitude for those who work in the
ministry of St. Joachim Catholic School, who strive to
provide a faith-filled environment from pre-school to
eighth grade. This is our greatest single parish asset for
helping parents educate their children in the fullness of
the Catholic Faith. Our challenge is to make this asset
accessible to every parish family. Our difficulty is the
financial cost. SJS has a substantial financial aid program, but it needs to grow. This is one of the goals of
the SJS School Board. Let us all look for ways to support the parish ministry of St. Joachim School as best we
can. Today’s 2nd collection provides us with an immediate opportunity. Thank you for your generosity.
Blessings, Fr. John

inmediata. Gracias por su generosidad.
¡Bendiciones! P. John
