APRIL 12th IS DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
Throughout the world, the second Sunday of Easter will
receive the name Divine Mercy Sunday, a perennial
invitation to face, with confidence in divine benevolence,
the difficulties and trials that humanity will experience in
the years to come. St. John Paul II used these words to
inaugurate Divine Mercy Sunday in the year 2000.
At St. Peter's we will celebrate this glorious feast on
Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m., with Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament, Benediction, and recitation of the Chaplet of
Divine Mercy in English and Spanish. We hope to see you
there!

Happy Sacred Sunday
from the IHM Spirituality Center
Events to highlight:
•
On March 12th, Anne Marie Bannister gave an inspiring
morning program on St Terese of Avila, a prominent
Spanish Mystic, Carmelite nun and Doctor of the
church. The group gathered, listened, and enjoyed a
quiet time and fellowship.
•
St Joseph’s day (March 19th) was our second of 3
Lenten nights of prayer, stretch and social. The Lenten
spirit was ignited by warm smiles, being together and
praying together. After a thorough stress relief head
and neck stretch, led by Sue O’Connell, we opened our
hearts and minds to prayer led by Debbie Krim. The
grand finale was a wine & cheese, and, YES, scrumptious St. Joseph’s pastries were gobbled up as we
gabbed the night away
•
•
We will have our last Prayer & Pals session in the IHM
Spirituality Center on Thursday April 23rd. Hope you
will join us for this fun relaxing Spiritual Spa evening
as Easter people. The doors open at 6:45 p.m. We will
begin with Present Moment Stretch at 7 p.m., followed
by rosary or meditation, and then socializing and
connecting with friends. Feel free to bring a beverage
(soda, water, wine, beer); snacks will be provided.
Come on, you deserve it!
On Saturday April 18th, Julie Giunta will present “His
Life for Mine...PURE GRACE”, a morning of teaching,
sharing and fellowship from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mark your
calendars!
If you have any ideas for programs, please contact me!

In the Gospel today, Jesus says: “Whoever serves
me must follow me, and where I am, there also will
my servant be. The Father will honor whoever
serves me.” When we help the poor we are truly followers
of Jesus, servant of the poor. As you place your gift in the
Society of St. Vincent de Paul poor box, know that you are a
sign of God’s love to those who are suffering and you give
them Easter hope and joy.

St. Peter of Alcantara
"…He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich."
-Saint Paul (2 Cor 8:9).
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The season of Lent is a time for us to renew our heart-to-heart relationship with
God and with our neighbors. It is also an opportunity to reflect more deeply on
what it means to be Disciples of Christ. One way we can respond to this call and
help others to experience the love of God is by making a gift through the Catholic
Ministries Appeal.
The Catholic Ministries Appeal provides the means for our Church to serve more
than 600,000 people of God in our community each year. Your generosity would
enable us to support our Church’s efforts in evangelization, liturgy and worship,
youth and young adult ministry, and programs for the poor and disadvantaged
through Catholic Charities and our Parish Outreach programs. It also helps fund
critically important religious education programs while promoting vocations to the
priesthood and consecrated life.
This Lent, I invite you to reflect on the words of Saint Paul, "For you know the grace
of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor,
so that by His poverty you might become rich" (2 Cor 8:9). His sacrifice is a model for
all of us to follow as we join together to impact the lives of thousands of people on
Long Island through support of the Catholic Ministries Appeal.
Thank you for your continuing generosity and commitment to the good works of
our Church. May God bless you with many graces during this holy season of Lent.
With my prayers and gratitude, I am
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Bishop of Rockville Centre

SPRING for SCRIP!
SCRIP: Gift Cards that Give Back!
2015 Shopping Guide
It’s time for our own stimulus package. We all do spring shopping for Easter,
Confirmations, Communions, Mother’s Day, etc. Why not let St. Peter’s benefit from
any shopping you may do?
Get ready, get set, SHOP SMART. Thinking of buying a $100 gift card to Macys? If
you buy through SCRIP, St. Peter’s earns $10. That’s right, you just “donated” ten
dollars to the school, and you didn’t even know it. Try getting that kind of return on your
money these days. Please take a look at the stores/sites listed on the other side. There
must be something there for you.
The form is due back with payment in St. Peter’s School main office or at the Scrip table
at Masses by Monday, March 31st for EVERYONE (school and parish). This will
insure that you have your order by April 16th. If you have questions, please email
Claudine at [email protected], or call Trish at 570-2537.
Please let us know if you have any special requests, or need your order sooner.
If you have something in mind and don’t see it on our list, please ask us if it is available.
We cannot fit every retailer on the one order form. We offer cards for:
 clothes
 books
 sporting goods
groceries – don’t forget these are ALWAYS available for Stop & Shop, King
Kullen, North Shore Farms, and Uncle Giuseppe’s
 fast food
coffee, coffee and more coffee – Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks are also ALWAYS
available
 music and movies
Thanks for shopping. Happy spring!
