theCity,replacingsomeofouroldtrashcanswithnewrecyclingbins.Thenewrecyclingbinsmake
publicrecyclingreadilyavailableandalsoserveasaconstantmessageoftheimportanceof
separatingandrecyclingourtrash.
Thispublic‐privatepartnershipallowsthecitytoworkwithaprivatecompany,GreenerCorners,to
educatethepublicabouttheimportanceofrecycling,whilealsobeingcostconscious.
InterstateWasteServicescollectstrashfromthepublicbinsandthecity’sPublicWorks(DPW)
handlestherecyclingcollection.ThisprogramcontinuestoenhanceourCity’srecyclingefforts.

Cans, glass and plastic: Place in rigid containers, not in plastic bags. Do not mix with other recyclable
items. Do not recycle cellophane, Styrofoam, motor oil containers, plastic toys, and Tin foil or bleach
containers.Theseitemsshouldgoinyourregulargarbage.
Grass, yard waste, leaves & Christmas trees: Grass and yard waste is collected from early April thru
October.Noplasticbags.LeavecollectiongenerallyrunsfromtheendofOctoberthruDecember.AsperCity
Ordinance1733‐07,Leavescannotberakedloosetothecurb;theymustbeplacedintobiodegradablebags
(not paper shopping bags). These bags are available at local Garden Centers and some supermarkets.
Leaveswillbecollected,onceaweek,thesamedayasyourrecyclingday,bythePublicWorksDepartment.
ONLY during off season should leaves be placed in plastic bags for your garbage. Christmas trees shall be
collectedthrutheendofJanuary.
Important Note to Homeowner – all landscapers, are required, and have been advised, that they must
removeleavesfromtheircustomerspropertyanddisposetheleavesasadvisedbyPublicWorkswithinthe
hoursofoperation:8:00am‐3:15pmMon‐Fri.(SeeOrdinance1732‐07).
BranchesandBrush:Shouldbetiedintobundlesnotexceedingfour(4)feetinlength.Collectionisevery
Thursday & Friday, call DPW for pickup. Large quantities may require a dumpster purchase by the
