I Am Moving I Am Learning is a proactive approach for addressing childhood obesity.


Brain research confirms that physical activity—moving, stretching, walking—can actually
enhance the learning process.
In this session participants will explore the mind-body connection and fun activities to do
with children that build skills in all domains.

determine the best type of evaluation for recognizing improvement in motor skills.

Sensory Kids: Sensory Awareness, Strategies and Tools for Implementation
This 2-session training will explore how children’s sensory systems and experiences determine
how they see the world and how they act within it.
There is a follow up activity, must attend both sessions for training hours

Session 1, Thursday, November 13, will describe the sensory system and how to use that
awareness to support sensory needs of children in educational settings. Participants will learn
strategies individualized for their needs.

Session 2, Thursday, December 11, participants will share their follow-up activity with the
group and engage in discussion and exploration of additional sensory-related activities.

Club Northwest in Grants Pass is hosting a series of trainings for child care providers, parents,
and volunteers who work with children.


Trainings will be held the third Tuesday of every month from 6:00 pm—8:00 pm.
Child Care Resource Network will provide certificates and enter training into the Oregon Registry for child care practitioners,
to ensure participants’ training hours are recorded.
These are great training opportunities for child care providers!
Connecting with Kids—Fostering Development Through Relationships


Get an overview of different developmental stages from infancy through the preschool years
Gain tips and techniques for building and strengthening the emotional connection that is
critical for learning.

Trainer: Pam Arbogast, MA, has been a supervisor of EI/ECSE services for 25 years, currently with Early Childhood Services for Southern Oregon
Education Service District. She is a leader, teacher, coach, mentor and instructor at Rogue Community College’s Early Child education department.
Your 7 Senses



A hands on learning approach to the seven senses including sight, sound, hearing, taste,
smell, vestibular, and proprioceptive areas—audience will rotate through sensory stations.
Discussion of sensory issues and sensory diets will be covered as well as appropriate ways to
accommodate sensory concerns both at school and other community areas.
Handouts will be available for reference.
CKC: Special Needs, 2 hours (Set One) Age Group: 0-5 years old
Trainer: Kimberly Larsen, BS Social Sciences, is a consultant, advocate and mother. She currently serves as the Executive Director for Families for
Community, a local non-profit agency that supports families and children with disabilities.

 Examine how movement activities affect cognitive development and physical development.
 Identify different ways to implement curriculum in the home, after school programs and
community-based programs.
 Gain a stronger understanding of how to assess a child’s needs and how to help promote the

Trainer: Kimberly Eikenberry, MS MBA QMHP, is a child and family mental health services professional who is dedicated to creating safe, inclusive
and dynamic environments in which our children can learn and grow. She is the Managing Director of Dynamic Living, LLC, which focuses on building
resiliency and is a Services Coordinator for the Options for Southern Oregon’s Children’s Resource Team.
